JEREMIAH 49--IS THIS PROPHECY ABOUT TO BE FULFILLED?

I ran across this prophecy from Jeremiah 49 (7 X 7) today. I believe it is a parallel prophecy of Isaiah 17, where Damascus is completely destroyed. How ominous is this prophecy, in light of the current rapidly deteriorating situation in Damascus today?

Consider these verses in Jeremiah 49:

Verses 20--23 read, ...surely he shall make their habitations DESOLATE with them. The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise (nuclear bomb?) thereof was heard in the Red Sea. Behold, he shall come up and FLY AS AN EAGLE, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of A WOMAN IN HER PANGS (the birth pangs of the Great Tribulation and the Sudden Destruction?).

Concerning DAMASCUS...they have heard EVIL TIDINGS: THEY ARE FAINTHEARTED, THERE IS SORROW ON THE SEA; IT CANNOT BE QUIET. DAMASCUS IS WAXED FEEBLE, AND TURNS HERSELF TO FLEE, AND FEAR HAS SEIZED ON HER: ANGUISH AND SORROW HAVE TAKEN HER, AS A WOMAN IN TRAVAIL."

Verses 26--27 say, "Therefore, her young men shall fall in her streets, and ALL THE MEN OF WAR SHALL BE CUT OFF IN THAT DAY, SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS. AND I WILL KINDLE A FIRE (NUCLEAR?) IN THE WALL OF DAMASCUS."

If the Rapture and the SUDDEN DESTRUCTION (nuclear?) of Damascus are simultaneous, as many Bible Prophecy scholars believe, then we must ask ourselves, "Are we on the brink of World War 3?" and "Is Hanukkah (which ends on Dec. 16th) the time of our Great Deliverance?"
