The OP's question is a good one, at least for Americans. All most of us Yanks know is that royalty is a birthright, so it would follow that barring death or revolution, no matter what kind of baby they had it would become King or Queen.

It appears there is no answer so far, then? I'm not going to look it up, but if memory serves wasn't there at least one King with a "withered arm" or some such? Surely being 'disabled' doesn't automatically bar one from becoming King. Would be nice to know if there is an "official" answer to the mental disability question.
