Are We All Nuts Around Here !!! I Kinda Thought We Were For A Moment. | |

I am stocking up and making sure all my feed is in place "JUST IN CASE SHTF" Quoting: TrinityMountain I'm one of those safer than sorry people. I asked this person whom I have known for a couple years if he and his wife had any plans for doomsday. He says " What doomsday " " Oh you mean the Mayan Thing. Na what for" I was actually a little stunned for a moment and said to him as I know they have Internet. Have you read anything about any of this. " NO " I mean nothing. Not a clue about anything. Fireballs. Earthquakes. Sinkholes. Chemtrails. Fema Camps. Volcano's. Solar Flares. Cme. Emp. Nothing. I went down the list. Nothing. Nada. No Interest. Not bothered about anything. Talked about some bussiness idea's he has for next year. We small talked. Had a beer and he left. I thought to myself. WOW . Is ignorance bliss or have I been brainwashed to some extent being on sites like this and others. I know I'm not brainwashed. But I started to doubt myself for a second and thought maybe nothing will ever happen. Maybe the sheep that keep their heads down and don't pay attention are the ones that are right and I'm the one thinking wrong. I mean I'm pretty convinced by all the information that were in deep shit on this planet. Then I shook it off. I guess I was just shocked at how little people really do pay attention to their enviroment and the things going on currently around the world. Its kinda scary how even people whom farm for a living are going to get blindsided when shit happens. They have no reserves. No extra fuel. Removed their wood heat. Need electricity for their well. No generator. Nothing. Don't even plant a garden with all their property so you can bet they don't have seeds either. Then it also occured to me how many people think that showing up at somebody's farm is going to save them because they percieve farmers as being self sufficient. Thats a classic example of how many people really aren't prepared even farmers for any SHTF event. I bet he represents about 90% of people around here that have small farms. They are no better prepared than the rest of the sheep. Scary Shit. It could go either way. We all may be fools for buying into all this stuff. Maybe nothing at all is going to happen and all the stuff we have been reading is someone's big idea of a joke. Only time will tell who was right. No one around me is paying any attention to the Mayan predictions either. Everyone is just going on with their lives as though nothing was going on at all. When I ask them about it they just laugh and walk away. |

Just don't waste your life like my uncle, building a bunker and worrying about the end his entire life only to die an old man with a bitter wife. |

If fear of the future is preventing you from enjoying the present, you're doing it wrong. If over-indulging in the present is keeping you from being prepared (I'm not talking crazy alien supervolcano insanity, just regular things, economic downturn and whatnot), then maybe you should focus on being prepared. It's not too hard to find a reasonable balance. |

I have been slowly getting ready over the years with a little bit more of a push this year. I have continued to run a bussiness and work. Play and do all the things I enjoy doing. I appreciate things even more in the last few years than I ever did. I don't know what to expect I just expect somthing is coming. Happening. Starting. I don't look over my shoulder everyday but I do mind my enviroment. I was caught off guard today because he was somebody that I percieved as probably one to pay attention to details and things. Not even one subject had he even heard or any knowledge about. Blew my mind. so to me it just showed the staggering amount of people there must be out there that are completely oblivious to everything. Last Edited by FreshAirGirl on 12/10/2012 10:03 PM |

I'm actually kinda of jealous to tell you the truth because I believe that when the end game does go down that there will be not a lot that people can do to survive .... I think that there will be some peppers that survive but I jink there will be so many more of them that get killed just like everyone else.....I could be wrong about that tho I'm not really sure what to think anymore..... Just to be honest with you.....a lot of times I wish I didn't know about any of this stuff that I've been enlightened too here on GLP and that I could just enjoy my life here in this society without always thinking about how messed up and evil everything is and just live life carefree and then when the end comes ...I get killed and it's over they say ignorance is bliss.... that's not completely true but there is some truth in there Last Edited by Simple_Man on 12/10/2012 11:38 PM |

Especially more so lately as we start to wind down here. I haven't let it get in the way of my life but I feel like I'm carrying around a rock somtimes being aware of this stuff. Somtimes I think we might be better off not knowing also. |

I believe there has been a trait lost in the last generation in regards to food and electricity. Convenience is now a given; grocery store will be open and as long you pay your bills the power is on. The days of walking into your grandparents and seeing a full pantry of canned items from the garden and a cold storage in the basement are over. Not sure if doom will happen, but I lived through one hell of a ice storm and I personally will not be freezing or starving to death this winter. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 25044356 12/11/2012 12:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh yes... there's a LOT of ignorant people out there. People who actually prefer to stay ignorant. Any talk of possible doom either comes off as crazy to them (because, in their perfect little worlds, nothing will ever happen to them or their families) or fear mongering (because they're too scared to accept the possibility). That's not to say something will or will not happen. No one really knows. But it never hurts to keep your mind open to possibilities and prepare yourself mentally in case something does happen rather than stick your head in the sand. |

I remember my GrandParents pantry's and my mother also was like that. They were always full. Canning was a family event and fun. They would do without alot of other things to keep a good supply at the farm especially in the winter months because they lived out on the prairies and going to town was a luxury so when you went you stocked up. Days long gone. Everybody nowadays is hand to mouth one meal at the store at a time. They don't want to drop the money on stock. They would rather rent a movie and get a case of beer. Newest big screen TV. Can't eat a TV. Nobody hardly has decent clothing anymore. I mean real functional clothing that could actually sustain life. Proper Winter boots. Long Underwear. If the lack of food does not kill people their clothing will or lack there of. |

Seems there's plenty of potential doom a brewin' out there now that could occur tomorrow... or maybe not in our lifetime. Even if a major world doom doesn't happen in our lifetime, smaller scale, localized doom happens around the world all the time. That's why everyone should have at least a little something put aside "just in case". |
