it was not fun

but I had water and food, so I was ok

water...check

firewood...check

wood stove...check

propane stove...check

canned food...check

warm clothes...check

blankets...check

strong shelter...check

yes, have done it before w/out any major problems. i will miss the internet & the twisted entertainment of GLP though....

I read a study awhile back that asked people, if they knew definitively that french fries caused terminal cancer, would they stop eating them? 75% of them would not stop eating them.

I think the question should be, how long will you survive?

Those in the city would be hard pressed to make it two months, those in rural areas would have a higher survival rate at two months.

It also depends on timing. Dead of winter and that 50% will likely rise 10%, in spring it would be closer to 25% fatalities (elderly, violence, lack of medications etc).

Personally, I'd make it about 6 hours..........

I urge any serious person (prepper or otherwise) to read the whole article and take a good long reflective minute in the mirror and ponder what you need to do to prepare. It's disturbing that people know that they're aren't prepared and yet willing to kill.

A lot of it for people that are sick will involve meds
that must be refrigerated or dialysis or other electrically
driven devices......including pace makers that rely on batteries.

It is going to be very hard.

so left to my own devices, I can survive

The Y2K 'nonevent' convinced even some peppers, that it's NOT going to happen, and the other 90% NEVER want to lift a finger/exert themselves, UNLESS it's for THEIR PLEASURE !

Then, government promises, even WITHOUT follow up as Katrina and Sandy showed, didn't wake the " It can't happen here" crowd of idiots, where porn comes first on their list of 'things to do'.

Also, there is the false belief they can do it all in a few days/overnight ! I have been getting 'ready' for 27 YEARS, and I STILL realize there are important things I overlooked; put on my 'To Do List'.

At the least, I also have an acoustic guitar to supplement the electric amp/ guitar going out.

I know the population will be greatly reduced real quick. Within weeks..
