All nuclear plants will go critical within 24-48 hours. If an EMP fried all electronics then generators will not function to provide electricity either.
The whole world would become toxic within days if the power went out on even the sunny half of the world.
Remember it takes a magneto to generate large amounts of elecricity and all magnetos would be fried....even the ones that weren't connected to the grid during the EMP.
