Italy recently sold some of their palaces and castles to pay some of their national debt. Greece is considering selling some of their islands in the Adriatic. And a columnist in the Washington Post proposed the USA sell Alaska to China to pay that debt. The debt was "no big deal" while it was being run up. Now the damned creditors are being deadly serious about collecting. |

You have to realise this, these money are extra "air money" they have to lend and make big profit. If they would spend them on you people they wouldnt be able to get back as much as they do now, even with the biggest taxation. Ostria |

People nowadays are borrowing prosperity from the future to keep the ponzi scheme going, and we're not even spending it on infrastructure, science, education, or something of value. The inheritance of our children and grandchildren is being spent on McMansions, Playstations, Ipads, impossible to win land wars in Asia, handouts for high fructose corn syrup and MSG loaded "foods", bailouts of billion dollar corporations and banks, and other non-productive uses of resources that don't grow the real economy at all. These things do fill the pockets of TPTB, though. Our children and grandchildren will hate us, and who could blame them? They are the lenders, their quality of life will suffer accordingly, and they will never get paid back. I hope they pay backtheir fat, ignorant, cowardly parents in kind by making them work until they die with no Social Security or Medicare. |

And not only this, we do pass them a decreased envirenment, bad food/water, bad working conditions... in fact we act like there is no tomorrow. Ostria |

It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006 |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2849260 I didn't see Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria. Are they NOT listed because they won't provide any information OR are they the countries that all of this money is owed to for the oil we use to run our vehicles and heat our homes? They are not listed because they do not have red hand banks. Which is one of the reasons those pesky countries need help. Well, how can you trust them when they SAY they need help? For our nation to be so deeply in debt and still be offering assistance to other nations is beyond stupid as far as I'm concerned. Anyone with even a smidgen of common sense knows that you ALWAYS take care of your own first. Even Jesus said in Matthew He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” (Matthew 15:24-26 ESV) The rest of the world is your own becuase you have quotas to let them all in forever. |
