There was a study a couple of years ago with regards to person in hospital care. And multiple church congregations were asked (without being made aware that it was a study), we asked to Pray for patient X.

There was absolutely NO difference in the outcome in Patient X.

I have to agree with this.

I'm not discounting the power of prayer...

But I'm also very aware that a hospital is a BUSINESS and sadly, the decisions that some doctors make are business decisions--for what's best for the hospital, not the patient.

It's sick I know, but I've already been down that road and it's not pleasant...when a hospital's rating is more important than providing care.

Shake some doctors up, ask questions, do everything you can to make a pest of yourself. Who cares what they think about you? The squeaky door gets the oil.

Yep, myxedema coma, perhaps, check for or agrees disease, thyroid autoimmune disorders.

I mean Hashimotos disease.

You may need to have her transferred to a hospital where they will do extensive testing to find out what is wrong with her. You can request/insist on this despite her insurance. A larger more capable facility can help.

They HAVE to stablize her first, but then they need to find out the cause of her being in a coma. A CT at the least is a must to see if she has a bleed in her head, a clot, or tumor. Extensive bloodwork of course and a urinalysis too.

There are many possibilities as to what caused this, I hope they get to the bottom of it. She, you and your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. Please let her know she has many people praying for her to overcome this. She may not look like she can hear you but she may be able to on a deeper level.

I've said a prayer for your sister and your family. I'll keep her in my prayers! Please keep us updated on her condition. There are many people praying for her here on GLP and God does hear our prayers and he is still working miracles! Just pray and believe!

It's already been said but, be sure to talk to her, read to her, put on fav programs. She can hear everything, just can't respond.

I suggest somebody be with her at all times, esp at night, as health care in hosp.for the most part is a joke. (I was an RN for years, until I saw the light)

Consider mega dosing her via IV w/ massive amts of vit C
