A serious question about Sephardi Jew surnames. | |

If you scroll down, under the header "Names," you will see a number of "Sephardic Pedigrees." Many of these Spanish and Portuguese names are very common. Does that mean that all people with these last names have Jewish ancestry? I have known many people throughout my life with these names, and never did one of them consider themselves Jewish. Infact, some of these surnames like "Garza, Perez, Lopez, etc." can be found in most if not every Latino population in the USA. Thank you in advance for any input.  |
