UPS Surepost
Takes longer, UPS site misled me as to delivery date. I was not informed that this method was to be used. Shipper's customer service, after the fact, informed me that customers are selected by random as to who gets "screwed" (not their words) but they agreed when I used the term.

Re: UPS Surepost
I don't understand why some people seem to be so negative about this service. I have received many a package this way and they have always arrived in reasonable time and with tracking. Perhaps it is your location, maybe off the beaten path??? The service is only available by contract and UPS makes the decision if the final deliver will be made by them or handed off to the USPS. Again, I believe it depends on your location which way they go?

I agree, the service is usually very reliable. The original poster should post their tracking info so we can see where the delay was and whose fault it was. In theory, all that should be happening is that UPS drops the package off at the local post office and they deliver it, rather than UPS delivering it to you.

Re: UPS Surepost
BTW I think it's the shipper that decides the type of service to be used, not UPS (although I suppose it is possible that they could choose to deliver it themselves rather than handing it off to the post office). In any event, I am sure the decision is based on pricing, which is based on weight and delivery location. If it is shipped to a business, UPS will generally handle it themselves. It's residential deliveries where you have a surcharge and UPS prefers to have the post office take care of it.
