Regardless of when the life of Christ and his Galileean ministry were put into print, there is something far greater here. It is faith. How many during the life of Christ were healed without the existence of a New Testament? There were many. He told many their faith healed them. Faith! Not words! Faith!

Personally I find it far more interesting in studying God's Creation from a more contemporary standpoint. One that stresses more on the similarities of differing cultural beliefs and that also incorporates empirical scientific and historical observations.

I see what is being taught through the current Western educational paradigm as being out of synch with how the universe is. At a fundamental level, human beings are being schooled that they don't matter to the universe. That they are but accidental creations that have no inherent meaning to the Creation that they were born into. In the 4 years I've spent on GLP, I've been talking mainly about a model of the universe that takes consciousness not only into account, but shows that it is the primary driver in this Creation.

There is a shortage of NEW ideas that and NEW ways to look at the reality that we live in, and I feel that it is every man and woman's duty to push the envelope in seeking out a more accurate understanding of the LIVING universe that we reside within. And in that way, we'll have a better chance of finding our meaning and purpose in a universe that does in fact love and care for us.

If you could disprove the fundamental belief that we are but accidents and are purposeless creations in a purposeless universe, like what is being taught in school, only that you would need to express this disapproval not through faith terminology, but through modern terminology, would you find it an honorable endeavor to take upon yourself?

In other words, why stick to the same behaviors and mantras that on the whole only cause derision and division when the language and perspective is NOW available to beat the Atheist at their own game using their own terminology?

The argument and is a straw-man and fallacious. There is not a rich recorded history for purple fongoid monsters or flying spaghetti monsters. 1/3 of the earths population don't believe in them. The purple fongoid religion didn't spread like uncontrollable wildfire to every corner of the globe. You can not in any reasonable fashion look at the lives of a family of purple fongoid believers and say that they are better off believing in a purple fongoid. The core tenants of the purple fondranomicon don't espouse virtues that make make sense for society or the family.

I will break it down in the simplest of terms. The core philosophy of atheistic mortality, despite what you have been told, is evolutionary based survival of the fittest thinking. It is playing to, normalizing and giving into the raw animal instincts that allowed homo sapiens to progress to this point. Believing that these virtues will build a better human as has always been the case. Its a short leap to eliminate "the weak " when resources get tight. It's evolutionary law, the species is made stronger when only the strong propagate. The core philosophy is about self, and believing that you are above your peers and that only your genes are worthy of propagation. Or its maddening decent into nihilistic apathetic pessimism. In either case it is un-intuitive reason and falling for the fallacy of normalcy to believe that intelligence and consciousness don't mark a huge turn in evolutionary progress worthy of a bit more introspection.

The christian philosophy on the other hand postulates an entirely different path. One built around the concept of selflessness. Loving a creator than can not be impersonated by any current living human. One that is personal and needless of any intermediary. Where atheism provides only cold despair filled futility, Christianity provides hope. Where atheism encourages selfish survival at any cost, Christianity postulates coming together and leaning on God, hope and each other.

Instinct indulgent atheistic philosophy is based on hubris and selfishness which is why it feels so Good.

Moral based christian philosophy is based on selflessness and hope which is why is feels so Right.

From what I read (let me know if if read into it the wrong way) is that you do believe in a consciousness and that we transcend beyond materialism and mortal bodies.

Many of the Christians here probably won't agree with me but, when God is referred to, we are truly discussing the Universal Consciousness. Most Christians just associate best with their own mental image of it, and with most paintings pushing a humanoid figure that is what they identify with.

When in reality, God (Allah, Ra, etc.) is purely that energy of the universe, it is something our mortal senses can't comprehend. I can tell you it won't be an old white guy with a beard living in the clouds, but it is a creative and loving energy that is a part of us as much as we are a part of it.

Well consciousness can't be proven because it can't be directly quantified.

I KNOW that I have consciousness. I just can't prove it to you. But boy, there have been many, many days that I wish I could let people see what I see.

What that thread points out is that there is a structure that wraps around the different stages of the development of human beings since the inception of the universe. And each level is consistently 20 times less than the previous.

That is a PATTERN centered around human consciousness GROWTH.

Which tells us the universe has a motive to develope the GROWTH of human consciousness.

And we can take that pattern to an Atheist and say here, here is an ORDER to the universe in which the human experience IS purposefull.
