I saw on another thread a few weeks back that they have also made coverage for "Named Storms" a provision in insurance policies. That is why all storms are named now. If your policy states that you are not covered for "Named Storms" then if you get damage from wind, rain, snow or tornado due to the "named storm" you are on your own.

Not to de-rail the thread, but isn't it ODD that the only mention of God which is allowed in this country anymore is either on our money or to save insurance companies from having to pay out?

OK, back to the conversation!

Here is a letter I recieved in the mail yesterday from my home onwers insurance company.

Why is my policy being amended to remove earthquake coverage ?

The peril of earthquake represents a potential catatrophic loss for our company and requires large amounts of additional coverage to be purched in the event an earthquake occurs. The market for this additional coverage has narrowed to the point we no longer able to purchase coverage at acceptable levels in pricing. With our current earthquake expiring on 12/31/2012 and no alternative solution, this left no option but to remove earthquake from our policy coverage.

Check your premium notice. I just got my homeowners' insurance bill, and it's gone up by $100 without any explanation. The past several years it's averaged around $600/year, so I budgeted about $50 bucks a month to pay it (on my fixed income). Imagine my surprise to open up the bill to find that it was just over $700!! Ouch!! This is after my property has been de-valued because of the home mortgage bubble. And I'm sure that if there is any sort of major quake that the cancellation notice will soon follow, despite the fact that we've paid THEM faithfully for 28 years with no claims.

bump bump and 5 stars along with thanks for bringing this to our attention. Another way to separate us just a little more from our rapidly dwindling income!

My insurance company removed earthquake and landslide coverage 5 years ago and I live in Eastern Iowa!

I'm about 350 miles North Of New Madrid. We had two EQ's that were felt here in the last 5 years and one shook my house enough to put cracks in the walls and knock a few door jams out of plumb.

The jews who run the insurance ponzi are closing the door before the next solar phase.

Pretttttty sketchy sounding! But, the fact that it is on the 31st, the end of the fiscal year, it could be just a quarterly change. Like you guys already said tho, other companies usually back it up so who knows?! I mean on a realistic note tho.... Just like in the movie "seeking a friend for the end of the world", he is an insurance salesman and it makes him sick because it's useless, ITS THE END OF THE WORLD MONEY WONT MATTER WHY ARE THEY EVEN MAKING CHANGES!! If anything I say it's a good thing because there will be life left to rebuild the structures without insurance help!!

When insurance companies feel that an element of their policy presents extreme risk they go to what are known as re-insurers. Those are specific companies that provide them with backup insurance to save them harmless in case their is an event of that type. What they are saying here is that there seems to be a real lack of anybody who wishes to provide such backup at all but huge rates which they will not pay. Thus, they take themselves out of insuring against that hazzard.

Allstate and possibly many other companies to drop earthquake insurance
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan

Anyone with Allstate and State Farm coverage deserves to lose everything. If they haven't switched companies based on what they learned after the Katrina renegs by these two scamming companies, then they deserve to be screwed.

I knew there was something behind them naming all the storms. The public at large gets fucked again. Also, if you go to refinance your home, and can not get insurance, will the financing fall through? Can the banks call in your morgage for not having insurance, that you promised to carry when you signed your note? Even though you can't get the insurance now? EVIL and GREED at it's best!

I just wanted to comment on this thread also.

I no longer live in TN, I moved about 6 months ago.

But anyways.

Remember when the EQ hit and it cracked the Washington Monument? It got me thinking about having EQ insurance coverage just in case. (I had several insurance claims that year because of downed trees due to severe storms in east TN)

So thinking it would be super cheap (East TN used to be virtually disaster free), I call my insurance company.

Well guess what? They no longer cover EQ in that area..............

Now think long and hard about that. I now live on a Volcanic Island and I can get cheap insurance for EQ's, but they will not offer EQ insurance in East TN and other areas because they will LOOSE MONEY?!?!?!?!

Folks me thinks the insurance companies have been briefed!

I worked in the insurance world for 6 years (Underwritting). Typically they never remove coverages unless a particular peril has become a major problem for them. So its usually after a problem...not before.

I'd say they are thinking ahead, so where did they get the idea that there will be EQ troubles?

the only positive thing out of all these insurer moves on
