Evidence Noah's Biblical Flood Happened, Says Robert Ballard
In an interview with Christiane Amanpour for ABC News, Robert Ballard, one of the world's best-known underwater archaeologists, talked about his findings.

His team is probing the depths of the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey in search of traces of an ancient civilization hidden underwater since the time of Noah.

...

Four hundred feet below the surface, they unearthed an ancient shoreline, proof to Ballard that a catastrophic event did happen in the Black Sea. By carbon dating shells found along the shoreline, Ballard said he believes they have established a timeline for that catastrophic event, which he estimates happened around 5,000 BC. Some experts believe this was around the time when Noah's flood could have occurred.

"It probably was a bad day," Ballard said. "At some magic moment, it broke through and flooded this place violently, and a lot of real estate, 150,000 square kilometers of land, went under."

The theory goes on to suggest that the story of this traumatic event, seared into the collective memory of the survivors, was passed down from generation to generation and eventually inspired the biblical account of Noah.

7000 years ago? I would think it's closer to 12,000-13,000 years ago when ice age ended.

Thanks OP, that's new to me.

This is old, but, may be new to some, here's evidence of not only Noah's flood, but the actual location of Noah's ark:

The story of Noah and his ark is a building block of Genesis, in the Old Testament. It is similar in some respects to the Babylonian epic of Gilgamesh, according to National Geographic, and the ancient Greeks, Romans and Native Americans all have their own variations on legendary flood stories.

Friend, the only thing here close to a tard (is in the turd) from that deception implicit in the name of that thread on Sumerian texts.

No texts can hold a candle to the accuracy of (the ancient writings of the Scriptures).

Again, our Creator gave (His human creation) the road map (pathway) to know truth vs. deception: (The prophet Isaiah recorded this pathway), namely, YOU'LL KNOW YOU HAVE THE TRUTH (TEXTS WITH THE MOST BLESSED' FINGERPRINTS ON IT)... BASED ON FULFILLED PROPHECY. YOU'LL KNOW YOU'RE HOLDING THE (GOD-BREATHED) TEXTS, WHEN "YOU CAN (ACCURATELY) DECLARE THE END FROM THE BEGINNING".

Hundreds of times, accurately this Holy book proves its nature of being (God-breathed), due to, over and over, declaring an event...then the event comes forth...indeed all of human history and all of creation, awaiting that most blessed event, of the coming King of kings and Lord of lords.

Nothing else in our history (most certainly including the tard-work, excuse me, the turd-work) of the Sumerian text - can correctly be claimed to be the originator of the works of the canon from the Most Blessed.

Praise God

I have this bible handbook that talks about similar handed down stories about Adam and Eve. Love this stuff. The handbook I had since I was a kid and actually belonged to someone else, forgot to return it or it got left at my house or something. I think its out of print now.

Edit to add: Just bought another copy off Ebay, same print year as mine, mine was ripped up because I used it so much. One of my favorite books I own. Happy Christmas to me early!

You're welcome. And CeeLight, please know - if I didn't make that clear - that the words were not directed to you...but rather in the broader context of the two (texts).

Blessings to you.

Of course it happened. I don't need Robert Ballard to tell me it happened. God told me it happened through His divinely inspired scripture.

Re: Evidence Noah's Biblical Flood Happened, Says Robert Ballard
Are they saying this was the event where the bosporus was breached and the mediterranean flooded the (now) Black Sea? A similar concept was covered in the fiction novel Atlantis by David Gibbins. It posited that Atlantis was in the middle of the Black Sea, the Atlanteans worshipped Jehovah, and that the Great Flood destroyed that civilization

Really fun read

Almost every culture on Earth includes an ancient flood story. Details vary, but the basic plot is the same: Deluge kills all but a lucky few.
