Seriously. Just to be on the safe side (better to be prepared for nothing than unprepared for something).

Make you prep check lists. Have your bug-out bags ready to go.

Firearms / snare wire / fishing supplies / hunting knives / axes / saws / rope / coleman stove / rice / beans / flour / sugar / salt / spices / seeds / pasta / canned goods / meats / warm cloths / blankets / matches / soap / tooth brush / TP / clean water / pots / pans / dishes / survival info suitable for your area / gas / stabilizer / compass /
there is plenty more you should/could have on your check list.

If you have a place to "escape to" be ready to get there.

Not meant to scare...just to prepare.

A disaster could strike anytime, anywhere.

dude im with you on this, im also prepared as much as i can,
but...all of these in a Bag? maybe you mean, bug out Car?
for example, flour? how many kilos? for how much days you
expect to make bread from your bag? 10? 15?
seeds? stayin in the planted field for months? without being
noticed by the hordes?

where you will go with your some days usefull BOB by feet?
down the road singing umbaya? or by the forest where tens
or hundreds hungry rifles expect targets like you to eat?

i have write it many times for the apartment people who
dreaming survival adventures...

Alone You Are Dead Meat

there is *Only One* way to survive when TSHTF..

Create Communities of *Same Spirit* guys, in high places
fortified already from nature (you can find if you know
where to look)
where you can easy and fast fortified them with walls
from surround trees with at least one source of water inside
the walls. You need a lot of work and when the SHTF find you
you must be already done.

DONT build walls from now only the last days before.
Every work bust be invisible even from air.

Dont bother loosing time trying to save the *everything normal* idiots before or when shtf hapens even if they are
close friends. They will never understand and may they kill
you with their stupidity and their wrong acts in the wrong time. Let them have what they wanted and what they deserve.

Prepair your fort with the right people, make meetings trying to be one team one spirit, DONT TALK TO OTHERS what
you are doing, Leave out wifes or kids if they talk too much, and start from now because you had to, from yesterday.
 Quoting: Perseus -

Your right, my situation is not a BOB, but BOS (supplies). I have a home and a camp. I plan on moving from one to the other with supplies.

Someone mentioned "you can't eat only meat". Your right friend. You need to be prepared to garden in the spring. However, potatoes. carrots and onions last a long time in a pantry. Also, the forest supplies "vegetables" even in the winter if you know what to look for, what to eat and how to prepare it.

Done and done. My only problem is that if the situation comes that we have no power/no access to my car working than it will be one hellish bike ride with the family/bob to the other location. By vehicle it is 3 hours, but if we have to do it by foot or me peddling my ass there, we are looking at almost a week, considering kids will be in tow. Not fun when the weather is getting colder.

That would not be ideal...but do-able if nessesary. Remember if you do have to hike to stay warm, but do not get sweaty. That is super important.

Any sporting goods store that offers outdoors gear should have snare wire. 20 guage, stainless steel. Also comes in copper and gold color. Usually just in spools by hunting and fishing gear.

I was in the local sporting goods store awhile back. Had to use my 20% off coupon. So I'm looking at a huge rack of Camelback water filter/bottles. And the filter was quite small. In the back of the store I spotted a Katadyne Exstream bottle clearance priced at $20 with a much larger filter. I got the last one.

I taught my oldest daughter from the age of 3 until now (9 yrs old) how to track animals, how to fish, what she can eat to survive in the woods, how to make a shelter etc...
But i did not scare her with it all. Just taught her little bits while out fishing, getting rabbits, etc...

Re: I'm makin' my list, checkin' it twice, ready to bug-out with my rifle and rice...
Re the snares, and decent gauge wire will work(like simple picture hanging wire), but the heavier it is, the easier it will fall over. The heavier it is within reason means less mending of snare. The important thing that is rarely discussed is de-scenting your hands with a some Dr. Bronner's mint soap or just using mint leaves real well. Most videos show the snares being made with basic loops and knots, but if you fail to de-scent the wire, then the animal will smell your odor and avoid the snare.

Snares are way easier to set than a spring snare, but the latter is able to yank the loop tight to catch a neck or foot. Making a trap is an art. It takes a lot of practice to expect to get anything, and proper placement is key. It'll be dead in some areas if there's not really an animal run there, or it will get trapped out from your activity.

You'll have to finish off a lot of rabbits by hooking your fingers behind their necks and pulling on their hind legs and doing it cleanly and with emphasis. No sense making them suffer.

I know it's grim to think about. Maybe that's important to realize the true cost of eating meat.

Don't expect to catch enough to eat it often. Mostly it will be a treat. Then based on high competition from lots of people, expect stealing of game from your traps, plus so many traps taking young animals and hence dooming their population.
