And is actually the Aztec Calendar [link to en.wikipedia.org] and not the Mayan Calendar that is always depicted.

i agree that the world will not "end" this to me is obvious.

but that article is a piece of garabage meant to belittle and discredit an otherwise honorable group of men.

I just posted the article as a lark, and don't follow the "Mayan End Of The World" hubbub much... Who are the "honorable men" you are talking about?

Cosmic Fluff interests me more BTW...

Wilson and Mckenna.....but perhaps i should have said their cause was honorable and not them specifically.

Cosmic Fluff eh? do you read Ss's threads? lots of good info in there. i also find it very interesting.

back to the 2012 hubbub. I personally believe that just the idea of being alive and able to witness the crossover over of a new calendar from an ancient culture is pretty darn awesome. esp from a group of had such accuracy and had knowledge of space that you wouldnt think they would have.

i do subsribe to the enlightenment theory to a degree and i think it has already started. seems like many across the world are becoming aware already. just look around you.

Yes, I do read his stuff (much of which is above my head). Fascinating and scary - that is IMO real doom - a Carrington type Event would certainly accomplish the de-population goal listed on
the Georgia Guidestones...

I work with the public - you are correct that a lot of people are "waking up", but sometimes I'm amazed at how many people are sheeple...

Re: How the 'Mayan Apocalypse' came from a New Age magic mushroom trip
It's true.

I know a lot of traditional "shamans" and spiritual leaders in Mexico, some of them very educated and wise in these matters, and NONE of them seem to believe that Dec 21 means doom. The consensus is that this is all a myth created by the "gringos".

The teotenacal (spelling?), or sacred mushrooms can be an awesome trip and rite of passage though, if one prepares properly for them. But it is a very personal experience and one is better off to keep personal revelations personal, and not "write them in stone", as in a book.

Kind of veering from the original topic, but I've recently become interested in the idea of a "psychedelic" trip. Is there a substance that causes these "trips" that is SAFE - what are the precautions you speak of? As with any drug - there are often side effects - do you know what the side effects of "sacred mushrooms" are?

I can't find the references at the moment but mushrooms of the psilociben variety (not other more deadly varieties) are shown to be not toxic in conceivable natural doses, and do not have permanent side effects either.

However the temporary side effects, both physical and psychological can be very powerful and include things like nausea and psychological issues. It is not the type of thing any normal person would do just any day, although many people do choose to try these things, once in a great while.

The mushroom cults of the Mazatecs recommend the following things.

1)Only eat vegetarian for one week prior to the ceremony.

2)Pay bills and settle and mental loose ends you might have in advance of the ceremony.

3)The mushroom is an inward contemplative experience, and the ceremony is recommended to be conducted at night, and usually indoors in a special "sacred" room.

4) The ceremony is best conducted by a person who is very experienced and stable with the mushroom.

5)Light colored clothing is highly reccomended.

6) Within 15 minutes of taking the mushrooms one must state their name and purpose for taking the mushrooms out loud.

7) During the ceremony some form of chocolate is always taken (usually whole raw chocolate beans). Ceremonial natural tobacco is also often a part of the ceremony. Both chocolate and tobacco have natural synergistic interactions with the psilociben, augmenting and stabilizing the experience in a proven pharmacological manner.

8) Tea and coffee and some light breakfast is served towards the end of the experience, usually in the early morning hours.

9) One should not speak of their experience or dreams thereafter for at least 4 days after the experience.

Be Careful!
