I looked up the controversial deal with Madonna in the late 80's..the one that Pepsi ended up pulling..that deal was for only tiny 5 million dollars.

I'm not against advertising. I understand companies have a need to do that..but this is beyond explanation.

Couldn't they take even a small portion of that money and do something good for some people who need it?? There are still a lot of Hurricane Sandy victims that need help..yet they have the money to make this over the top deal with Beyonce...and nobody calls them on it????

The more I think about it, the more I believe this is an inside joke.

It is an "in your face" joke toward the American consumer.

They are trying to prove that they can do something like this that is so extremely outrageous and over the top..and the ignorant masses will still eat it up..because they have been truly dumbed down to that level...

so my hometown is where pepsi was invented. when that clear pepsi came out alot of people where i lived hated it for whatever reason. there was a campaign around town to do away with it so people gathered as much as they could and had a "tea party" of sorts by dumping it in the river.

I think some time marketing gets out of control, is it really in Pepsi's best interest to give this money to Beyonce? Can they make the money back by having her as a promoter? I mean, Pepsi/Coke are well established brands, is it necessary?

I googled and couldn't find another endorsement deal for that much money..but I just did a quick search. Maybe corporate marketing is now at the point where that amount of money is not out of the ordinary..but if it is...it sure shocked the crap out of me.
