Out in the burbs of Huntsville, AL. I am at least 15 maybe 20 miles away (as the crow flies) from Redstone Arsenal. Hearing a boom every 10 minutes. It sounds like a quick rumble of thunder. I don't think they could be practicing artillery that often as it would probably drive everyone in Huntsville crazy. I could not find an active quarry e.g. blasting. Sorry for doubting you in the past.

Turned out to be the local barney fifes were blowing up stuff about 5 miles away, in preparation for the DNC.
