2.7 million miles....the thing would have had to take off a few months ago. as I doubt its going to have the speed to simply launch, travel 2.7 million miles in less than 24 hours, much less do that AND catch up to the object then slow down enough to piggy back on this things rather small gravitational effect, I think common sense would rule out this possibility.
