How do you merit the ability to judge anyone or anything and hope for this??? Take the log out of your own eye, darlin'. |

Don't discount the small hints that mother nature reveals in advance of large earthquakes. Quoting: ººEATºº Remember the oar fish that washed up on Japanese shores in the months preceeding the March 11, 2011 earthquake? That was a hint of the massive earthquake that was coming.... Handful on incidents? Massive rains last week 4.4 quake Smell of sulfur in bay area Earthquake lights Fish washing ashore Nah, I don't see the connection. I'd need a meteor shower and sun dogs to make the connection. And a passing Asteroid or two, and a New Moon. Plus it is very close to the winter solstice... especially this particular winter solstice being the end of the Mayan calendar date of December 21, 2012... In the end it doesn't even matter... |

Quoting: ººEATºº Remember the oar fish that washed up on Japanese shores in the months preceeding the March 11, 2011 earthquake? That was a hint of the massive earthquake that was coming.... Since 1900 there have been (89) M8+ Earhquakes. None have occurred between the Queen Charlotte Triple Junction of the Coast of British Columbia and the Rivera Triple Junction off the Coast of the Baja Peninsula. Also Since 1922 the Largest Earthquake to occur in California is M7.3. Five M9+ Earthquakes have occurred since 1900. All have occurred in Subduction Zones. The San Andreas Fault is NOT a Subduction Zone. Study Earthquake History before making Outrageous Predictions. Herman Says you are Putting your Ignorance on Display with your Predictions. I agree with your posting, and can still see a series of 7's in a chain doing a lot of damage, it doesn't have to be a 9 on the San Andreas, if a string of 7's lead into the PNW and trigger a large 8 on the Juan De Fuca. Likely to happen ?, no. Could it happen?, yes, most quake predictions and animations always show the quake starting in south San Fran. and moving to the north towards JDF. You are correct. Earhquakes will move in the Same Direction as the Pacific Plate which is moving North and West. The recent M7.7 Earthquake on the Queen Charlotte Islands Fault Triggered Numerous Aftershocks in Alaska. Professor Robert Dziak from Oregon of Oregon State University has studied the Cascadia Subduction Zone and has stated that the Cascadia Subduction Zone "is becoming more like the San Andress Fault" and that "an Earthquake may be more in the Magnitude of 7 to 8 rather than Larger". [link to www.sciencedaily.com] The Title of the Article States "Pacific Norhwest Tectonic Plates are Moving". Earthquakes are a result of Plates Locking and not Moving for an Extended Period of Time. When they Unlock Energy is released which cause Seismic Waves which Produce Earthquakes. The Subduction Rate of the Cascade Subduction Zone is 26MM per Year. It will take 1000/26MM = 38.46 Years for Energy to Build for a (1) Meter Plate Movement. The Okhotsk Plate moved (6) Meters last year during the Earthquake in Japan. It will take 230.76 Years for such an Energy Buildup in the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Since the Cascadia Subduction Zone is 1/10 the length of the Okhotsk/Aleution Subduction Zone it is Doubtful that a M9+ Earthquake is Possible in the Cascadia Subduction Zone. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 26254870 12/11/2012 05:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The San Andreas in California is definitely the next big one. But, it's not going to be in S.F., it's L.A. (or at least starting south of there). How far the faultline rips, well, THAT is the ultimate question. The Southern section of the fault hasn't moved since the 1600's ... and that's a LOT of stored up energy (1.5" per year times 350+ years). But, the longer the damn thing is locked up creates the slim, but possible, chance it could slip from the Salton Sea, to Cascadia (1500 miles). AND THAT WOULD DEFINITELY BE SOMETHING TO GO OUT ON ... Surf's up, dude. |

A bunch of fucking idiots interpreting nebulous and vague "data" whilst mis-interpreting REAL geological data that they're not qualified to judge. When this doesn't happen.... And it won't... Will you come back and eat some humble pie? No.... I bet not. You'll just disappear for another month and come back with another fear-mongering prediction of a "super-duper-maga-quake" or some other drivel. |
