Guys, I'm real big into all the topics on here, and know what they're capable of, but I'd say this was an accident..

Another pipeline blew back in 02 I believe it was. I'm not sayin the earth couldn't have shifted, but not sure how they would have intentionally done this. I'd love to hear how "they" did it, if anyone has some info on this I'd love to hear it..

So am I correct in my interpretation that if a gas drilling company installs huge gas gathering pipelines underground directly beneath a high-voltage power transmission line system . . . there is a greater possibility/probability that the gas lines could be susceptible to compromise, including explosions?

BS gas line. That is a rural area. Likely no gas lines.

As I understand it, WV is in the Macellus Shale which has been heavily drilled.

Oh, you think it's a pipeline? Then why is it not being reported that way? And if so, it seems like it would be a bigger event since gas transmission would be interrupted, no?

Yes. It was a 20 inch high pressure natural gas pipeline. Just because an area is rural doesn't mean there aren't pipelines running through the area. Also, just because there was an explosion doesn't make it the result of drilling. Chances are that the pipeline was probably there long before the Marcellus Shale drilling even began to come into play. Scary thing is that most of our infrastructure including pipelines is aging which is why these events are becoming more common.

I'm 42 and no I didn't graduate in Sissonville. I use to live with my grandmother in the black and white house above Mary Altzes trailer park straight down the road from Sissonville high.
My cousin graduated from there in 1980 though.

I moved away before highschool. Attended Sissonville JR a while though.
It was right before and around the time our gym teacher Coach Tyree was shot and killed

Seems like the entire country needs all it's gas lines checked urgently.

My husband and I smelled raw gas on and off last night and it affected the taste of our food it smelled so strong.
Kind of freaked us out.
We live about ten miles from Charleston, WV.

Driving up Falls Creek in Lincoln county, it has the strongest smell of natural gas ever!
People get their gas heating for free but I don't see how anyone lives there!
