They are /were not stupid people.

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29627977 OP, this is a good question! As a conspiracist, I'd guess that some billionaires are in favour with the "Elite" (eg. Commie-Statist mofos like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates etc.) and some aren't. Maybe Jobs was in the latter category.
