Re: Are wives/girls leaving their husbands/boyfriends in droves right now?
Is it normal for pre-holidays? Is it something else? What's going on? A week or two ago there was a thread about women's cycles going haywire/doubling up and now it seems people are being left/dumped like crazy. Is it musical chairs where the girls all run to some greener pasture, or earth changes, or all guys suddenly become unloveable or worthless at the same time? What's happening?
 Quoting: Therapy 29639398

Have you seen all the dating sites pushed on tv ad campaigns like its the next best thing? Its like fuck your boyfriend or husband join online dating we can guarantee your perfect match(the juxtaposition being its like the dating site who the fuck is it aimed at? 95% OF THOSE WHO ARE SINGLE KNOW HOW TO PICK UP OR HOLD A RELATIONSHIP its only the other 5% who are painfully shy or just fucking incompetent at engaging socially so who the fuck are the ads targetting
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28090785

my husband and I were noticing the huge increase in all the dating ads, especially the 'christian dating sites' on TV. we were actually laughing because so many people bitch an moan about being married and all its drawbacks, yet dating site use is at an all time high. EVERYONE wants someone, that is clear, yet when they find someone they fuck it up.

I once had a friend who broke up with her boyfriend and then got back together with him only to find out he had joined a dating site. so then she could never really trust him that he was done with 'looking', in fact she found out he went on a couple of dates and the girl was on his facebook. Man, it must suck to be single and looking, its so depressing to think that even if you find someone on one of those places, how do you know they won't keep going back and looking for someone better than you? For me, meeting someone has always been about chemistry; like body language, voice and overall appearance. dating sites seem so vanilla and vacant.

Thats what i mean loool this is one of my comspiracy hobby horses ie;'are we being split up'?communities are broken next its the family AND THE ABSOLUTE SINISTER ASPECT OF CHRISTOIAN DATING SITES JOINING IN Do these idiots not realise when families are finding it hard to rebuild or work on it for the kids they are actually encouraging the oipposite.God it makes my blood boil I mean yeah christian online dating they would be better spent espousing the bvirtues of the ONE they are supposed to represent not work for satan

I've noticed people break up and get together in cycles. People usually break up in the winter months, and find new love in the spring months.

My husband left me and my kids a few months ago...Went psycho, started trying to commit suicide, took up drinking full time, quit his good job of more than six years and moved out of the house...the most bizarre behavior I have ever seen in my life...We had only just been married a few months...

It's not just women going nutso and leaving their relationships...

I think it's a generational thing...I'm in my late 30's, and people my age and younger seem to just want to quit at the first sign of hard times...people don't have the foresight to see that things will get better.  Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28090785

Thank you so much for your kindness! The kids and I have been getting peace, at least, since all of this started. I was a stay at home mom. I've since gotten a job, doing what needs to be done to take care of us. I'll do whatever it takes to keep myself and the kids strong. I'm 37 and at this age, I won't curl up in the fetal position and die, lol. Something I've learned through the years is that I have no control over anybody but myself, that knowledge helps a great deal. I control what happens to us from here on out. :-)

More like the younger generation of men are all pussy's who want to sit in front of their TV/PC all day playing Call of Duty or WOW. wouldn't know how to be a real man if their lives depended on it.

I'm not a guy and I play both.

I also know I'm more of a man than most men I meet. Not biologically, but because I solve problems, get shit done, and don't run away to let someone else make decissions.

I don't think the games have anything to do with manhood, but I don't like the punk-assed little bitches who usually run their mouths on games like those.

What part do social media sites play in this? Does they just make it easier for people to find someone else?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20085731

well imho, Facebook is like a dating site for married people or people already in a relationship. Where else can you justify having everyone you've ever known and maybe been 'interested in' or former lovers in one easy location? People justify it because everyone is doing it. If you are married and you value your marriage and partner, there is no way in hell you would allow 100s of people of the opposite sex in your friends list. Women who live on facebook are bored and love to stir shit up with drama. Men who use it are looking for one thing, a hookup or to move in on someone who is already taken.

Ask yourself this... what the eff did people do to meet before the internet? Its become an easy way to become too flirty or worse, to get into an emotional affair that often leads to adultery and broken hearts.

just what the powers that be want... the broken family.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28867210
Yes agreed absolutely my view wtf are yo doin with a shit load of saucy fem friends on your facebook site or whatever site? it always always leads eleswhere 1 second of flattery or a few jokes shared and its the nature of the beast attraction will follow (even the saints had trouble with beautiful female specimens)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28090785

Yep, agreed. No married person should put themselves in any situation where the attention of someone of the opposite sex becomes more important than or could take the place of the attention of their spouse.

I'm old fashioned...I won't have male friends when I'm in a relationship that don't include my significant other. I would never in a million years put myself in that type of situation. Couples should have shared friends...I have seen fb ruin soooo many relationships...people hook up with exes or someone they had a crush on in high school. Why would a sane married person do that?

Ugh!
 Quoting: StormeyGoddess

same here, I've seen 4 friends go through some nasty divorces because of facebook. in 2 of the situations, the women only lasted about a year with the new guy after they left their husbands and after that first 'wonderful' year of what they called 'finding their soul mate', they found themselves alone again. In one situation, the new guy decided she was not right for him and hooked up with another 'new' facebook acquaintance. good times, lol. not only are people making big mistakes, they are living them out on facebook for the world to see. in the other situations the women realized they did not want to be divorced but it was too late, facebook had connected the newly single guys with some new women. The thing I learned is learn from other people's mistakes. the grass is not greener, in some instances it has not even been mowed

With what time is left i had ENOUGH? I'm just sick and tired of taking care of a bum who sits around and does nothing. Won't help with anything around the house and has the nerve to ask me what's for dinner when I get off work. I pay the bills and he spends his social security on himself.

Sorry about your loss. Since you were only married a few months, maybe he really was a psycho and you just had not been around long enough to see one of his rage/flare-ups. OR maybe there really is some kind of crazy thing going on right now that's making people pull apart. That's why I'm curious if people are also getting together more.

It's absolutely true and heartbreaking how people are anymore. I see it even with people up to their 40's. They want instant gratification in everything. They want to experience the first rush of love over and over again and then move onto someone else as soon as that fades. They don't understand commitment or the value of staying together.

My parents were together their entire lives, and they were each other's firsts as well. They never had to experience heartbreak or any of that and I think they were blessed for it.

The rush of new love will always be a fleeting thing and it becomes harder for a person to obtain the older they get. It's a terrible drug to get addicted to. And how many diseases and children do you pick up on the way of that journey?

As long as someone isn't abusive, and there was a connection in the beginning, it's good to remember that about a person and continue on through the ups and downs knowing that deep down there is a kindred spirit who you fell in love with, and that love is in a place that is eternal even after the body's biochemical high wears off.

People though have to have the foresight of - what do I want to be when I'm I old? A person in a nursing home remembering hundreds of sex moments, or sitting with the person I spent my life with recollecting our shared voyage through life, our successes and failures, the times we laughed and cried, but always knowing there was one human being in this crazy world we could depend on?

I don't mind if a man wants to play a video game while I clean the house or whatever, lol...I'd rather him be playing WoW or Call of Duty than out running around God knows where or playing on social sites with God knows who. :-)

SG, this sounds very much like bipolar disorder or similar mental illness, or even a severe case of SSRI discontinuation syndrome. I wish you (and particularly the kids) the best. If the kids are biologically his I strongly suggest keeping detailed notes about what happened for use in future custody determinations if needed. If he gets on (and stays on) some effective meds and commits to therapy he may be able to be a father to the children eventually.

Be well.

You hit the nail on the head. In the beginning of his troubles, he was diagnosed as bi- polar and exactly four weeks after he started taking medications, the attempted suicides began. He was also a recovering alcoholic...had been sober for over two and a half years. After the first suicide attempt, he added the alcohol...

Wow. I was willing to get through it...you know? He was in and out of the hospital, admitted to the psych unit. It was a nightmare, but he's my husband, I'm supposed to stick by him through thick and thin. That's what you're supposed to do in a marriage, but he continued to drink (i can't live with that) and he jumped the gun and filed for divorce with a quickness. I asked him to not make any life changing decisions until after his three month therapy was over, but he said he was sure about his decision.

The children are not his, so thank God I don't have to worry about any of that. He does have two children of his own and I'm not sure what's going on in their lives anymore. It's very sad for all the kids. I don't believe in divorce, but what can I do?

I wish him the best. I am not angry or bitter over what's happened. Life goes on. :-) I'm sad that it happened, but won't let it get me down. I have a future. I was a good wife, I did everything I could for him and now it's time to let it go.

Holy cow...I didn't mean to hijack the thread, lol...sorry guys, guess I needed to yap.

One of the strangest things about porn now sociologically is that it features methodical, completely bizarre and unnatural sex and now the younger generations being brought up in a world where it's rampant actually see it as the way sex should be performed and duplicate it like a script.

Interesting thread - I had privately wondered this myself.

In the last 18 months I have seen lots of women dump their men - often for no apparent reason (affairs, addictions, abuse etc).

After centuries of subservience and being treated like possessions, I guess we should not be surprised.

Peace to all women everywhere!

Honest relationships are a thing of the past. Modern media and celebrity influences is what controls the mind of a women, and that control says always find the next best thing, and sadly there is always going to be a next best thing. Women want a guy that can give them everything they want, and guys are giving it to them. Guys are at fault here, because they're to easy, and women know this. They can control you and take you for everything you have, then just jump on to the next guy and do it all over again, always getting what they want. The guy just sits there and takes it up the ass, then cries about it like a pussy. Fuck relationships, they're for suckers, 40+ year olds, and people that live in the Midwest.

Don't apologize your posts are great! It's likely that most breakups will have fairly typical reasons for them from person to person, but my original query is to the perception of a sudden massive increase in it. Only by hearing personal testimonies may some larger context or pattern be visible. Although many people may appear to have individual stories or events that are attributable to macroscopic details, it may turn out that people are being driven apart through another process that we have not identified.

These relationships may be dying "natural deaths" on the surface but it may be that we have not identified the true root cause.

If everyone who split up from a lasting relationship went on to have a better life as a result that would qualify as people making positive changes in their life. Yet I myself have seen very little evidence of that and in fact it would appear that the more breakups, sex and relationships people have the more miserable and damaged they are becoming. If true it would not represent a positive evolution or change in human behavior, on the contrary it would appear to be very destructive and tragic.

A person in a nursing home remembering hundreds of sex moments, or sitting with the person I spent my life with recollecting our shared voyage through life, our successes and failures, the times we laughed and cried, but always knowing there was one human being in this crazy world we could depend on?

great post. I totally agree, love or the pursuit of love is like a drug for many. It totally occupies one's mind and unless they are in hot pursuit of someone new, they are not happy. Been with the same lover (my hubby) over 20 years and have learned a thing or two about that 'fleeting' high you get from attention from the opposite sex. Its not worth throwing a good relationship/marriage away because you find yourself daydreaming about a new lover. If you are best friends with your spouse, you have the greatest gift ever while here on this rock.

I'm middle aged but I left him.

With what time is left i had ENOUGH? I'm just sick and tired of taking care of a bum who sits around and does nothing. Won't help with anything around the house and has the nerve to ask me what's for dinner when I get off work. I pay the bills and he spends his social security on himself.

And he thinks his sex is good?!? Just ain't worth it anymore.

Sorry bitch, but you made vows and you need to keep them. Till death till you part, and you don't get to kill either.

Do your wifely duties, and be glad to be married.

And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets,
and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be taken by her. (Eccl. 7:26)

For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. (Job 33:14)

many do understand, which is why so many people either try to tear something apart/ridicule it or worse, try to be a home wrecker. with 7 billion people on this rock, no one should be trying to steal another person's mate. ever. so not cool and the people that try to break people up will have a lot to answer for on judgement day.

Let no man tear apart what God has brought together...

Re: Are wives/girls leaving their husbands/boyfriends in droves right now?
SG,

So very sorry for your experience (and that of his biokids). That sounds like the wrong meds or wrong dosages, it takes a long time to find the sweet spot to actually get something effective that isn't simply sedating someone into drool land. Actually reads more like a mixed episode then a strictly manic or strictly depressive state and those are the hardest to deal with. Meds are great at stopping mania but not so much at getting someone out of depression, and when the meds only serve to take away the highs (that feel good and aren't really considered a problem by those experiencing them) without also getting rid of the lows, nobody wants to stay on them.

What you said -- "It was a nightmare, but he's my husband, I'm supposed to stick by him through thick and thin. That's what you're supposed to do in a marriage ..." sums it all up. Fewer and fewer people feel that way nowadays. That was what I kept coming back to when I experienced a similar situation last year.

To try to draw this back to the OP's topic, this time of year is when people start to get hit by seasonal affective disorder or simply start feeling depressed over the holidays. At such times people are much more willing to take the plunge and leave their spouse/significant other. So many folks have this idealized version of the holidays based on how much they enjoyed them as a kid that they think that same joyfulness should just fall into place around them, and when it doesn't they lash out.
