Yes. I don't think the problem is girls doing girls things or boys doing boys things but when married/attached people get together with single people then there is going to be trouble because single people are pretty much always trying to either be constantly promiscuous or to find someone to be with. Just like friends like other friends to go out drinking to validate their drinking, they also like them to be involved in the frenzy of dating and picking up people as well. Ironically as soon as one of them finds someone they stop doing it, but then the single friends will keep drawing them back out. Nobody really wants to be single for long.

Maybe a lack of bad influences? I once heard a radio DJ say 'if your wife's best friend gets a divorce, you might as well draw up your own divorce papers, because girls need to slut it up in packs'. At the time I thought it was stupid, but seems like there's something to that!
 Quoting: CupidStunt 14641921

I think there is. I think it's true for men too, I guess I don't want to say that only women behave that way. I personally was left from one long term relationship when my partner's friends were single and wanted to be going out in the trio they had in their 20's to pick up guys and "have fun". They ended up winning in the end by using manipulation and eventually facilitating betrayal. I saw what was happening and I said at the time those friends of yours are trying to break us up and then I was accused of not wanting them to have "fun". After the first betrayal I lost my trust but continued on because of commitment but then I was more scared as the going out continued, for which I was seen even more as insecure and a party pooper. Eventually they never came home.

That's one of the most depressing things I've read all morning and I just read the employment ads...

I for one think its more important now than ever to truly uphold the vows and promises we all made when we got married. My marriage has been my biggest success in life. I give it all I have - and I believe in it. For the most part I have had a wonderful marriage but have had to deal with the ups and downs and occasional fuck ups, but that is because we are only human, we mess up sometimes. If you find someone you love, treat them right and never go to bed mad.

AMEN! All relationships have their low points, but a little communication goes a loooooong way into riding those out to the high points. We don't let our little problems simmer to big problems, conversely, we try to let the trivial stuff slide. Congrats on a successful marriage, I wish you many, many more years of happiness! =)

And for the record, there are some couples who enjoy video games or a little dirty flick together...not like I'd know...thumbs

Speaking of...hubby is home from work. Time to put the little to bed, and show him how much I appreciate our marriage. groucho

despite all the marriage bashing, you are correct. and those that are not in relationship tend to be bad influences to those that are (if they go out to bars, etc). people always want what they don;t or can;t have. whether its freedom of being single again or a relationship, it seems people are always chasing something they don't have.

Well I am a House Husband and thankful for my wife being able to make a good living for us.

I cook a hot dinner from scratch or grill every night, make my wife's lunch for the next day unless she has a client meeting or wants to go out.

I do laundry, vacuum and scrub floors, clean bathrooms, dust, do dishes, change bed linens, light candles. She comes home to a clean pristine house and a home-cooked meal with dessert every day.

I rub her back and she gives me a bare-bottom paddling and we have great sex. It's all good!

really, because my standards for a man include no mindless video games? if you are 15 and need entertainment a video game is acceptable.... over 40 and you have issues, it means you clearly do not have a challenging enough job or other more important things to focus on. Real men are not playing video games, they are off solving the world's problems and taking their wives out to dinner.

btw, i hate cats. i don't understand people that keep those.

Honest relationships are a thing of the past. Modern media and celebrity influences is what controls the mind of a women, and that control says always find the next best thing, and sadly there is always going to be a next best thing. Women want a guy that can give them everything they want, and guys are giving it to them. Guys are at fault here, because they're to easy, and women know this. They can control you and take you for everything you have, then just jump on to the next guy and do it all over again, always getting what they want. The guy just sits there and takes it up the ass, then cries about it like a pussy. Fuck relationships, they're for suckers, 40+ year olds, and people that live in the Midwest.

Re: Are wives/girls leaving their husbands/boyfriends in droves right now?
My husband left me and my kids a few months ago...Went psycho, started trying to commit suicide, took up drinking full time, quit his good job of more than six years and moved out of the house...the most bizarre behavior I have ever seen in my life...We had only just been married a few months...

It's not just women going nutso and leaving their relationships...

I think it's a generational thing...I'm in my late 30's, and people my age and younger seem to just want to quit at the first sign of hard times...people don't have the foresight to see that things will get better. They seem to think that what is happening RIGHT NOW is always going to be happening...I don't know. I don't think like that. I'm having such a hard time wrapping my mind around my situation.

People are crazier than normal right now...that's for sure.

Its a sign of the times love, and im sorry you had to go through the pain its horrible i know but they say times a healer and it is,you come out the other end way way stronger and now you will have the gift of xray specs ie you can see idiots a mile off your **ckhead detector will be fine tuned after a bad experience.the kids are with the right parent thats a huge comfort i hope
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28090785

Thank you so much for your kindness! The kids and I have been getting peace, at least, since all of this started. I was a stay at home mom. I've since gotten a job, doing what needs to be done to take care of us. I'll do whatever it takes to keep myself and the kids strong. I'm 37 and at this age, I won't curl up in the fetal position and die, lol. Something I've learned through the years is that I have no control over anybody but myself, that knowledge helps a great deal. I control what happens to us from here on out. :-)
 Quoting: StormeyGoddess

I have been where you are now. My husband of 5 yrs..who I thought was perfect in every way. I loved, admired and pretty much worshipped him. Started acting crazy...not himself, was out of control with anger at me and I was actually afraid of him. I could tell he could hurt me. He had found a new GF and when I figured it out I left. I did some detective work and found out she was a real winner. Been married 5 times..at least and none of them lasted over 2 yrs..most less than 1. These were 5 marriages just in a couple of counties that I could check..some she never divorced just married someone else..and had hot checks, trouble with DHS..so I just laughed my ass off on out the door. he came crawling back in 7 months..she had broke him..she was a gold digger..he said she was a compulsive liar who lied about everything. I just laughed and said you made your bed..now sleep in it. I had 2 kids to raise on my own..he could have given a crap about what we had suffered through for those last 7 months..but we were free..and I had learned alot.

You promote outdated gender stereotypes which are holding the entirety of society back from progressing towards equality. This hurts women as much as it does men.

women these days are self centred, egotistical and narcicistic. All we hear about is their wish lists of what they expect in men,i have a girlfriend im willing to put some effort and she also puts effort,so i admire her for this.

this is rare, most women i have known are lazy, judgemental and empty vessels with jugs and a rear.Seriously women STEP UP, stop being boring, this isn't just about sex but everything.Show some inniative

never settle for second best. there are good, intelligent, interesting, fun men out there.

Addictions are a bitch and video games are just another form of entrapment for the mind.

Most people give them to their kids because its like having a baby sitter... 4 hours later kid is still glued to his xbox, drooling, waiting for his ramen noodles. video games make the transition to p0rn real easy.

well, i guess we have some different views, i agree with you many men no longer value being a gentleman & its very sad. however i don't agree people can be so easily categorized.

my view is that just because some (or even many) men no longer value women doesn't mean all men who adopt more modern roles in the household aren't gentlemen.

same goes for women, just because some women want to be more independent and have platonic male friends doesn't mean they're bad wives or mothers.

the times are changing, and i feel with the change comes both good & bad.

thanks for the debate.

I've been suffering from a broken heart for months now after woman I fell in love with left me after partying with her girlfriends at bars all the time and dating someone else instantly (set up the next one before she jumped ship). I was devastated and the rage/pain/hurt still dominates most of my days. HELP! I'm drowning in this shit and see no light anywhere, let alone at the end of the tunnel. Sad thing is I would have done anything for this women, I was totally devoted to her and that wasn't good enough. I have no idea how I'll find the courage to love/date again.

Back rubs every night, dinner every night even on days when I worked more hours than he did. UGH! The pain was almost unbearable, but I did pull through it just took time. I did go to a good counselor but time and finding others to talk with, friends etc helped alot. Good Luck to you..it is not the end, it is your beginning. Agreed, also try to keep busy. Its hard but really try to keep moving, do something new you've never done before. Its going to hurt but its true time will help.

Re: Are wives/girls leaving their husbands/boyfriends in droves right now?
I've been suffering from a broken heart for months now after woman I fell in love with left me after partying with her girlfriends at bars all the time and dating someone else instantly (set up the next one before she jumped ship). I was devastated and the rage/pain/hurt still dominates most of my days. HELP! I'm drowning in this shit and see no light anywhere, let alone at the end of the tunnel. Sad thing is I would have done anything for this women, I was totally devoted to her and that wasn't good enough. I have no idea how I'll find the courage to love/date again.

I was the same as you. I was devoted, never cheated on my man, even though there were offers. I adored my husband and never denied him anything. You deserve better, she did not love you like you deserve..there is something better for you.

thanks for the kind words. I need them. It's been coming up on 9 months and the pain seems to get worse. I've been in therapy , read the books, etc. Were you able to love again? Find a partner you felt strong love toward?

Re: Are wives/girls leaving their husbands/boyfriends in droves right now?
I see a lot of hate for video games lately, usually aimed at men. Women like video games, too. Even my elderly parents enjoy playing Wii games in the evening. Video games can be mind rot like television, but there's also a lot of independent video game makers and music makers that are creating real art. It's okay as long as it doesn't have a negative impact on other areas of a person's life. People who get addicted to games like WoW or Call of Duty which seem to be the big ones, definitely have a problem. I don't see one form of temporary entertainment or distraction as any worse than another necessarily. When people get addicted to something it can ruin their lives no matter what it is.

Sorry to hear that. Time heals even though it hurts so bad now. When I have gone through this in the past, I've just taken time to be by myself and to work on my self esteem and get my confidence back. The best way I did that was to just start working out like a paid athlete. by doing this, you will get in great shape and your mind will feel great too. Its a slow process, but there is no greater feeling than looking in the best shape of your life, being completely over the ex and then running into an ex by pure chance. its priceless. happened to me over the summer, I ran into my old bf who broke my heart so bad at the time, he dumped me for a friend (and cheated on me for months), even though that was years and years ago, his jaw dropped when he realized it was me and he gave me a big bear hug, only it was cut short because my gorgeous husband was standing next to me. my ex was bald, extremely overweight and looked 10 years older than he was even though he was 2 years younger than me.

he just stood there staring at me and then told my husband how lucky he was. It was heartfelt, and i appreciated that he said the kind things he did, but back when he dumped me I thought my life was over. Lesson; I am so glad I did not wind up with that guy, he was dressed like a homeless guy and smelled funny. Funny how things work out. I bet you meet someone really nice someday. Believe that you can and you will.
