It used to be my favorite, until the stuff intentionally planted inside the lockers made it lose its magic.

I watch Shipping Wars now.

I hate the premise of that show!

They are cashing in on people who couldn't afford to keep their stuff. A lot of what they're getting belonged to people down and out because of this economy.

Something's wrong with us for watching this show.

When I see antiques people clearly had in their families for years be turned over to these vultures makes me ill.

If I could, I'd buy those units and give the stuff back to the people it rightfully belongs to.

Hate to burst your bubble but that's not entirely true...

Here is the run down on an average 10 unit sale:

2 to 3 are Druggies / Drunks, that are in jail, prison or to high to give a shit.

2 are where the renter somehow got into the unit and took what they needed or could sell and left the broken furniture and junk / trash.

2 are business units that have gone out, or about to, and want someone to clean up their mess.

1 to 2 are units owned by, a elderly person whom has passed or gone into a nursing home and the kids don't want "Mom's old stuff"

and 2 may be folks "down on their luck"

and before you ask, I'm an Auctioneer and sell about 3 sites like this a month...

Maybe seeing it as you do helps you feel better about what you do for a living. I still maintain this is morally wrong.

so as you see it, the site owner should just hold this stuff for them until the get ready to come and pay for it and pick it up huh?.....in case you don't know these units are, on average, 6 months past due...hell on of my clients has sold some that were over a year past due, he's a nice guy and kept trying to work something out with the renter.

how about all the houses people lost due, mostly, to the fact that they took out a mortgage they could not afford.....do we just pay off the note and give the house to them?

how about someone who has their car towed in for repair, gets the estimate that's too high and abandons the car....what should the garage owner do?, fix it anyway and give it back?

as Rick Flare once said "you might not like it, but you better learn to, cause that's the way it is"

^^^^^^^^^ Well said! This is the exact reason this country is so split. It's easy to think and believe one way... until you really and actually look at the other side. Lack of empathy and reality mixed. One sided with blinders on.

Yes, how sad, those people lost their garbage.... But, how about, "How rude.... that they left it for someone to clean up!"

They signed a contract and did not follow through. Period. It's not just law to follow through with a contract, it's also common courtesy.

McDonalds will not give you 3 months to pay for your cheeseburger. When you go through the drive-thru, it's common knowledge that you pay for your order. Same goes with signing up for cable, a new car, or renting anything including a storage locker.

If it were that bad for the person owning it, they could have sold the items themselves prior to leaving all the garbage for someone else. If their family's priceless antiques were really just left behind like that, I'm sure they could have asked a stranger, someone on Craigslist, or even an attorney to pay for the locker, get the item out, sell it and then let it lapse again. Like a previous person posted, people leave their picked through garbage in there as if it's a public dump. Rude.

I've always suspected this show of conveniently placing gold, money, treasures and fortunes in these run-down lockers. Also, in one episode, Dave drops an old jewelry box while getting out of his truck. If you ever see this episode on re-run, watch carefully. It's blatantly obvious that he did it on purpose. Very scripted.... They built up this jewelry box as possibly being worth a trillion dollars, (knowing it was junk) and then he drops it! Oh my! Oh no! The couch crowd gasps! All for entertainment....

And I just love how Brandy wears high-heels and dresses to dirty garbage dumps. Right. That's what every logical mom who desperately needs items to re-sell wears to a dirty storage locker! Spiked heels! Then whines and complains and does no work at all. All BS.

A&E's "Storage Wars" is FAKE!

Although it may not come as a huge surprise that "reality" TV is somewhat contrived, Storage Wars has taken it to a new level that places the entire industry in doubt.

Storage Wars is an American reality television series on the A&E Network that premiered in 2010. The show features auctioneers Dan Dotson and Laura Dotson, as well as auction hunters Dave Hester, Darrell Sheets, Barry Weiss, and the team of Jarrod Schulz and Brandi Passante. When rent is not paid on a storage locker for three months in California, the contents are sold by an auctioneer as a single lot of items. The show follows professional buyers who purchase the contents based only on a five-minute inspection and what they can see only from the door when it is opened. The goal is to turn a profit on the merchandise.

Somewhat contrived.......really? It's ALL CONTRIVED. There are elements of truth to TV, sure...but it's not called programming due to a spelling bee. I guess "Mountain Men" or "Ice Road Truckers"---the TV shows are real too.........FFS?

Re: 'Storage Wars' star Dave Hester says show is fake, suing, report says
Dave Hester , one of the show’s cast members, has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the show, according to RadarOnline.

In his lawsuit, Hester is claiming the series is fake, and he says when he made complaints to the network about the staged portions of the show he was fired, Radar reported.

The popular A&E reality show follows auctioneers and buyers as they bid on various storage units blindly and then raid their purchases in hopes of finding treasures.

According to Radar, Hester claims show producers plant valuable items in the units to presumably make the show more interesting. The suit also claims the show rigs the bidding process. In one part of Hester’s suit, he goes so far as to say the network paid for one female cast member’s plastic surgery to increase her sex appeal and make her more appealing to viewers.

Think logically for a second...this lawsuit is as fake as the show. Unless Dave is willing to admit that he was the only person in America who didn't know that the show was fake, the lawsuit doesn't make sense and has no basis for being filed. It is just a publicity stunt to get more viewers.

On a side note, dumping Hester was a smart move. He was dragging down the viewership. Looks like the show is about to get better.

I liked Dave. It's good for shows like this to have a 'big bad'.
