The rocket’s cargo, a small shuttle called the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle, is an autonomous spacecraft that’s been under development by the U.S. government for over a decade –though very few people know exactly what it’s supposed to do. They just want to destroy the annoying asteroid from the other thread. |

Being just over a week to 12/21/2012, it is ominous. At least we'll know soon enough if that is the case. Do your absolute best and the rest is fate. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 26262155 12/11/2012 05:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to revelationawaitsanappointedtime.blogspot.com] "The 15th shuttle mission, STS-51-C, was the first to be completely dedicated to a secret mission for the Department of Defense. The details are still largely classified, but one alleged story leaked to Aviation Week is that one of the purposes of the mission was to launch an ELINT spy satellite in geosynchronous orbit. More top-secret missions followed in quick succession: STS-51-J, STS-27, STS-28, STS-33, STS-36, and STS-38. And then something strange happened. After STS-53, the CIA/DoD stopped commandeering shuttle flights for classified national security purposes. Whatever it was they had been doing, had they had enough and didn't need any further surreptitious skulking in space? That hardly seems like them. But from 1992 on, the Pentagon seemingly had no further need for the Space Shuttle's services. And I asked myself once again, what do they know that we don't?" |
| MarkinAZ User ID: 20006444 12/11/2012 05:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seems to be quite a coincidence that the AF would launch a vehicle into space just a day or so before we're supposed to have an asteroid/meteorite buzz by the earth BETWEEN the earth and the moon (yes, that's close!) and a larger one in a few days that is supposed to be well outside of the lunar orbit but that one is like 4 or 5 kilometers in length - big enough to put the planet into a nuclear winter for a long time so they say. If one or both of these objects should somehow start to head onto a collision course with earth - would/could the military use an Energy Weapon / Laser / Scalar Beam Weapon to either move this thing or break it up into many smaller and hopefully less harmful sized chunks? Seems like this might explain the timing for this launch. But then who knows? |

They were still using it but not classifying the payloads. |
