Fourteen people died after a bridge collapsed in South Africa!!!
Technological Disaster in South Africa on Tuesday, 11 December, 2012 at 15:32 (03:32 PM) UTC.

Description
Fourteen people died after a bridge collapsed on the R65 between Lothair and Ermelo due to heavy rains, the Mpumalanga community safety department said on Tuesday. Spokesman Joseph Mabuza said three vehicles, one of them a taxi, were involved in the accident. "The bridge goes over a dam and it collapsed. The cars drove over the collapsed bridge and were swept away by high volumes of water." The bridge collapsed around 9:50pm on Monday night, with six people initially killed and others missing. "Police have retrieved the missing bodies," Mabuza said. "The road has been closed that leads to Lothair, and will only be open for people residing in the area." Motorists should use the R33, N17 and the Ermelo/Mpuluzi road as alternative routes. "We have realised there is a prediction of higher rainfall in the province and people should be cautious when driving, especially when they see water on the road," Mabuza said. "They should stop and inspect the water, because it could be dangerous to drive further down the road."

Extreme Weather in South Africa on Wednesday, 12 December, 2012 at 14:20 (02:20 PM) UTC.

Description
Two people were found dead west of Mahikeng following torrential rains and storms, North West police said on Wednesday. Their bodies were found on Tuesday evening in Madibogo South, Lt-Col Lesego Metsi said in a statement. The first death reported was of a 22-year-old man caught in heavy rain while walking home. His aunt said he coughed the entire night and was unable to walk or talk before dying. In a second incident, a 52-year-old man was found dead in a field used for grazing animals. “It is suspected that he could have been struck by lightning whilst looking for his cattle when caught up in the heavy rains on his way back.” The Motsitlane, Dikgatlhong and Lenganeng sections of Madibogo village have been hit by heavy storms this week. Metsi said one house had been destroyed, a tavern and several other houses had been damaged and several families had been left homeless. The damage was estimated at R80,000. He said the house which was destroyed had belonged to the family of Selina Tsubane, 40, who lived there with her three children and two nieces. She survived on child support grants.
