Is the debt real?
So are we borrowing from China .42 cents for every dollar spent, or is the Federal Reserve printing new money out of thin air? Which is it, and don't say both, because it's one or the other?

If its the first, then why is the Fed printing money?

If its the latter, then why doesn't the Fed just print up $16 Trillion dollars and pay off the debt, then reduce the money supply back to normal. Wouldn't that be faster than waiting for QE Infinity?

The Federal Reserve (private company no more federal than federal express) prints money out of thin air & then charges us to print it & charges us interest on it.

Wow where have you been? Under a rock!

Good morning, happy birthday yesterday, & I hope you're ok from that fall off the turnip truck.

All kidding aside it is a crooked scam. Now maybe you can believe there are "powers that be" that have the money to run everything.

Re: Is the debt real?
The 16 trillion is our total debt and that held by other countries, corporations, private individuals, etc.
But recently when they (US treasury) have a bond sale there is not enough buyers for the huge amount of bonds that the government puts out there, so the Fed buys up the rest.
I would be curious to see how much of the federal debt the Fed actually owns.

But to answer your question OP, yes the debt is real.
The portion owed to the Fed should be forgiven though, being they have made trillions upon trillions over the last 100 years.

Re: Is the debt real?
it's real enough to those that want payment, whether they actually put in even a penny or not

its gonna come down to collectors vs those that want proof that they authorized indebtedness, and there are no papers with anyones names other than the pols and bankers names on the bottom.

If I didnt sign it, I'm not paying for it

The group of private individuals that own the Federal Reserve own all the Land in North America (you rent in fee simple), and have a position on your future earnings.

Don't worry about our owners. They'll be fine.

Re: Is the debt real?
No it's not real, essentially money is only what we make out of it. It's not like we can't just print more, because it doesn't truly represent anything. It's not like our debt is based off of a gold stockpile or something, it just exists in the way we want it too.

Just about every nation in the world is in debt, and that debt is coherent to the amount of money you spend. Since America spends shit loads of money, we're naturally in a shit load of imaginary debt. Really, people need to just ignore it, it doesn't matter if we're $10,000 or $10^10 in debt, debt is debt.
