World Trade Center's $10 million antenna finally sets sail for New York after legal dispute with Canadian maker is resolved -A barge carrying eight sections of the 458-foot antenna are set to arrive in New Jersey next week -The delivery had been delayed due to a legal dispute, during which the Port Authority accused ADF Steel of holding the antenna ‘hostage’ -The dispute had threatened to delay completion of One World Trade Center -A question mark remains over whether 1WTC will be able to claim the title of tallest building in the U.S. The antenna, designed in collaboration with artist Kenneth Snelson, is part of the tower’s 'crown' and will allow the building to reach a symbolic height of 1,776 feet, a nod to the year the U.S. declared its independence from Great Britain. The skyscraper is intended to serve as a ‘symbol of recovery’ after the original towers, which collapsed during the 2001 September 11 terrorist attacks. Once completed, One World Trade Center had been expected to formally become the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, surpassing the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) in Chicago. Part of the giant spire that will top the tower arrived by barge from New Jersey. The nine largest pieces of the spire, each weighing 70 tons, were brought across New York Harbor from Port Newark on Tuesday. “Best way to describe it is it’s like putting a candle on top of a cake,” World Trade Center construction director Steven Plate told WCBS 880′s Peter Haskell. As of February 24, 2013, the tower's concrete construction is largely complete, and its glass panels are being installed in sections between the 90th and 100th floors. Installation of the podium's lower glass curtain wall has also begun. Roof and parapet steel are being finalized, along with the subsections of the 408-foot (124 m) spire.
