A very, VERY scary date is Monday, May 16 2033 when a far, far more dangerous "Y2K" problem arises.

All time keeping on Unix machines is calculated in terms of the number of seconds after the "birth date" of Unix on 1st January 1970.

On May 16 2033. the total number of seconds hits one billion.

Unfortunately, all the nuclear missile systems of the USA are run on Unix systems and, at 999,999,999 seconds, all the microchips and software hit maxint, and at one second later, the systems go into utter chaos.

Possible result? Out of the blue, all out nuclear strike by US on Russia etc...and WW3 holocaust.

If the earth is still around in 2033, and if there is still a middle class/I'm rich, dinner's on me.

Best story I've heard most recently is that bacteria and viruses will destroy all of mankind within 100 years. At this our survival could go either way, but I'll more than likely be gone.
This whole 2012 thing has been worse than Y2K, but more movies about 2012 with Nicholas Cage, John Cusack, Kiefer Sutherland and others. So Hollywood has at least cleaned up on being the chief proponents of fear.

what about the far sight remote viewing experiments and the two timelines. one showing doom and gloom by june 2013.
