What do people in your country generally think about America?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29274067

They know nothing other than what is on TV.

Most feel a like-mindedness with your people.

But in other countries, most people do not like Americans.

I like America, and most of the people there are cool. Been 4-5 times now.

I like Ron Paul type of Americans, I despise the libtards and most of the minorities (there's like a 0,02% of smart darkies). Also the Evangelical neo con types are repugnant.
Banned as usual.

“It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.”

Re: NON-AMERICANS: What do you think about America?
Mystery

Babylon the Great

The Mother of Prostitutes

and of the Abominations of the Earth
?

Purely speculation, and isn't meant to be 'religious', but political. You tell me who this describes. Ever wonder why the American continent is never mentioned in the prophecy of the end times? (This would include Canada). Every great empire eventually falls. Thoughts? Other than that, I grew up in the U.S. for the first 18 years of my life, so this isn't an, "I'm from Canada thing."

Revelation 17:15-18
15 Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages. 16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God’s words are fulfilled. 18 The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

Oh, the Prostitute will play are part, but seeing that 'she' is not a part of the 'Beast', who will hate 'her', 'she' must exist separate, outside Europe, where the Beast represents the 'fallen', yet revived, Roman Empire.

Revelation 18

18 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted:

“Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!
She has become a home for demons
and a haunt for every evil spirit,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say:

“Come out of her, my people,
so that you will not share in her sins,
so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
5 for her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her crimes.

6 Give back to her as she has given;
pay her back double for what she has done.
Mix her a double portion from her own cup.
7 Give her as much torture and grief
as the glory and luxury she gave herself.
In her heart she boasts,
‘I sit as queen; I am not a widow,
and I will never mourn.’

8 Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her:
death, mourning and famine.
She will be consumed by fire,
for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
9 “When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her. 10 Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
O Babylon, city of power!
In one hour your doom has come!’

11 “The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more— 12 cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; 13 cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men.

14 “They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’ 15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn 16 and cry out:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!

17 In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’
“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off. 18 When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, ‘Was there ever a city like this great city?’ 19 They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
where all who had ships on the sea
became rich through her wealth!

In one hour she has been brought to ruin!
20 Rejoice over her, O heaven!
Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets!
God has judged her for the way she treated you.’”

21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said:

“With such violence
the great city of Babylon will be thrown down,
never to be found again.
22 The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters,
will never be heard in you again.
No workman of any trade
will ever be found in you again.
The sound of a millstone
will never be heard in you again.
23 The light of a lamp
will never shine in you again.
The voice of bridegroom and bride
will never be heard in you again.
Your merchants were the world’s great men.
By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints,
and of all who have been killed on the earth.”

Many weren't born, or were too young, to remember the wave of immigration in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Instead of being pissed at Mexicans/Latino's-in-general, they would have been pissed at the Germans and the Irish.
From 1940-1960, everything was so 'White and Right'. What used to be a war of cultures (Irish-English-German-French-Born Americans), shifted to a war of Race.
I think my generation (Millennial), it will be a war of Religion. Christianity here is so fractured, though I can't say anything of what it's like in Europe as y'all are portrayed as cheese-eating Atheists (Europeans in general) here in the south.

Just to add more prophecy to the mix. Interesting hmm:

Isaiah 13:17-22

17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes (Iran),
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.
18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
they will have no mercy on infants
nor will they look with compassion on children.
19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms,
the glory of the Babylonians’ pride
,
will be overthrown by God
like Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 She will never be inhabited
or lived in through all generations;
no Arab will pitch his tent there,
no shepherd will rest his flocks there.
21 But desert creatures will lie there,
jackals will fill her houses;
there the owls will dwell,
and there the wild goats will leap about.
22 Hyenas will howl in her strongholds,
jackals in her luxurious palaces.
Her time is at hand,
and her days will not be prolonged.

What I mean is the way all normal Americans are demonised as possible domestic terrorists for daring to stand up for themselves or others, none of the attacks on your liberty would be possible if it wasn't for the way the vast majority of your population willingly hand over their rights and bow down to all authority, whether right or wrong, while accusing anyone who doesn't do the same of being " un-american". Because of the whole " proud to be an american" thing, people willingly believe terrorists destroyed the world trade centre because they "hate you because of your freedom" and the resulting war was "fighting for your liberty" while in reality its your own government and countrymen crushing your liberty, but you wont let that stop you chanting USA USA like a bunch of howler monkeys.

The very statement "proud to be an american" sound like you believe that anybody who doesn't conform to the mainstream behaviour and viewpoint isn't a "real American", or does your "pride" merely come from the geographical location of your birth? "my mother gave birth in America, that makes me awesome! USA USA USA!"

When it comes to religious fear you only need to read news stories. A huge chunk of your population are so backward that they believe everything is demons, they perform exorcisms on poorly children, do nothing to help themselves or others because they think praying is more effective, and blame "sinners" for earthquakes, storms, and illnesses. Can't sleep? Satan. Unwell? Satan. headache? depressed? miscarriage? like rock music? enjoy sex? watched Harry Potter? believe in evolution? Satan.Satan.Satan. It's a wonder any of them can get out of bed for fear the devil will grab their feet from under there.

I can tell you im not proud to be Scottish, it just happens to be where i live. I am, however, proud to be an awake and caring individual, who is constantly working to better myself. That is something to be proud of. Being born somewhere is not an accomplishment.

LOL! I do love cheese, and I don't believe in any deity with a "personality", so for myself I suppose thats a somewhat accurate description.

Americans seem to be very territorial creatures.
Out of this ugliness may come,
Some day, so beautiful a flower,
That men will wonder at that hour,
Remembering smoke and flowerless slum,
And ask-glimpsing the agony
Of the slaves who wrestle to be free-
'But why were all the poets dumb?'
-William Montgomerie

So many gods, so many creeds,
So many paths that wind and wind,
While just the art of being kind
Is all the sad world needs.

Re: NON-AMERICANS: What do you think about America?
I think too much brainwashed national pride has allowed the erosion of your liberty, and a huge chunk of your population is held back from progressing by religious fear.

For a lot of people I know, myself included, hearing "USA USA USA!" is the same as hearing "Allah ahkbar Allah ahkbar!".

This is the dumbest thing I have read yet. Not a clue.
It is the liberal socialist agenda that has eroded our liberties.
And....you do realize that part of that is God being thrown out of anything outside your front door don't you?
When we shout USA, it is because we are proud to be American.
When muslim extremists shout God is great, someone is usually dead.

I believe you have completely misunderstood the meaning of the post. OP asked why others thought of the USA. Poster gave his honest opinion. I'm with the poster on this one... Americans are brainwashed. Our whole system from pre-K up is designed to create non-thinking, rhetoric spouting, hypernationalism.

I was stationed overseas, and my fellow soldiers were a constant source of irritation for me. Only an American soldier gets drunk and walks down the middle of a street in his host country singing the Star Spangled Banner at midnight. It's a travesty.

Look at what's come of our country since 911. The Patriot Act, the Transportation Safety Gestapo, the increase of checkpoints in bus stations, on roads... the militarization of our brownshirts, er... law enforcement. There is a definite problem in our country now.

I was at the Prague Zoo with my daughter a couple months ago and crossed over a small footbridge over a creek. I turned to her and asked, "Do you see anything unusual about that bridge?"

"Not really dad, it's a bridge."

"Where are the handrails?" The bridge had no handrails. If you walked off the bridge and fell in the creek, it was your own fault! "In America, that bridge would have been required by 19 different laws and legislations to have hand rails."
