I used to have a 28k modem back then and when I made the upgrade to 56k I was the happiest man in the world ! With my new modem I could download a 3.5MB MP3 file in less than 1/3 of an hour instead of a full hour it took me on the old one...now I download it in 1/3 of a second ! It's amazing how technology has evolved in just a 15 years ! |

I had dial-up only until about a year ago when I moved closer to town. I imagine the people that still live up there on the mountain top still only have dial-up. It wasn't populated enough for the tele. co. to run dsl up there. No cable tv either but that was no loss. And no cell phone service. But that's not why I moved. Would actually like to move back. |

Apocalypse ( "lifting of the veil" or "revelation") is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted. * know the truth and the truth will set you free |

Those were the days to be a MOD. The last time I used a dial up was with NetZero in 1999. Anyone else had a BBS? Last Edited by The Fifth Element on 12/12/2012 12:54 AM "Never, never, never give up." Lol I used to run a BBS with my old commie 64 on a 300 baud modem and a tape drive, I still remember saving to upgrade to a 1200 baud and a disk drive that was bigger than the computer. |

My first laptop (a 386 SX20) had a 2400 baud built in... I thought it was THE SHIT! I was too poor to upgrade it to a 9600 and the next step I took was a 14.4k... Holy shit I was happy! I remember downloading the entire ECG Semiconductor database (Four archives, 3.5 megabytes a piece over 2 and half days!!!!) Now I grab a Gig in a matter of minutes.... Holy crap, times have changed. One of these days... A *REAL* rain is gonna come and wash all this scum off the streets. |

Not sure how that happened, but I know being in highschool my dad had to pay the bill which was at least $500. I still stay awake at night and think back how the hell did I do that. |
