Chess has changed many times throughout history, from the pieces themselves to the movement of the pieces. It wasn't the same from day one as it is today.

yep, if one would take the time to play or understand the rules of a certain video game, you'd be pretty dam amazed at what you see at tournaments. games like starcraft, dota and street fighter are insane at high level play. why else are there big prizes for their respective genres? (nothing like chess of course, but still pretty dam good for something recent)
