I got myself a good little drinking problem a few years back, always giving up for ten days at a time, starting again, then I kicked for ten months, and now I can enjoy one of two without getting out of hand. It was all about triggers to me, vicious ex withholding the kids etc. Now when she's a see you next tuesday I put myself on watch and know that booze is just extending the bad feeling into guilt. You can do it. A sincere congratulation to you. Sadly its not the same for me. I was a heroin addict for 4 years, An acid and benzo addict for 2 years, a ketamine addict for 3 years, and a meth/painkiller addict for 6 years. One thing i've realized is i replace one addiction with another and rinse and repeat. Im addicted to addiction. The good news is Alcohol is literally the last drug for me to be addicted to. One thing thats stopping me is the withdrawal. I drink about 18-23 beers every night and the withdrawal is insane. I was able to quit cold turkey on heroin and other opiates but alcohol is just plan fucked. Have you tried drinking heavier beers like stout? Slows you down. Try a six pack of regular and then 3 Guinness I drink 18-23 beers of Alexandre Keith 5.2% which is pale ale.Ive had stout before but can't say im a fan. Im not looking for higher alcohol % because that screws me over. I was drinking a 26 of whiskey everyday cause it was alot easier to hide and i decided to switch to something a little more social where i could get by.
