Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6673466 What do you know? Crowder did the right thing. If you listened to his interview, he is very level headed and was totally aware that he was in a no win situation. Cooler heads prevailed. Now the challenge is out there and I suggest that the coward come forward and face criminal charges or risk getting his UNION MADE ASS KICKED in a ring If you took the time to read what I said you would understand. I said trained MMA fighters don't put their head down like that. Fastest way to get knocked out is close your eyes/put your head down. Lol. There's a huge difference between expecting a punch and not expecting a punch. Total fail. |

I said trained MMA fighters don't put their head down like that. Fastest way to get knocked out is close your eyes/put your head down. Yup. I train mma, and that shit will get you uppercutted, or worse, knees to the face. Could someone tell me, How do MMA and a union protest go together. Most union rally's and/or protest involve firearms and large groups (some would say mobs) of angry workers willing to fucking blow your head off about their paychecks. They have bills and kids to feed, and they're deadly serious about keeping what has been negotiated under contract. So, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not aware of any MMA training that makes you bullet proof. How Bout you.. This country was founded on the principle of law and assembling to protest against wrongs and grievances ignored. So if you don't want to get fucked up, don't go messing around where you don't have any damn business. Reporters, getting into the mix with Union protesters, will definitely get you fucked up. I hope he learned something from it...DON"T FUCK WITH THE UNIONS...and keep your mouth shut or someone will shut it for ya.... So the union guys have the right to assemble and protest but news people don't have the right to cover that protest and they should just stay the hell out of the way? Gotcha. |

Though I believe Unions have their place, I also believe that they have crippled America's ability to be competitive in the real world. Unions were formed initially to help protect workers gainst unsafe working enviroments and from being taken advantage of in many ways... Many years ago, the table had been turned and enabled the Unions to hold companies hostage through strikes, and make demands of wages and benefits that simply do not match their level of expertise and education. The only way companies were able to stay in business were to ship these jobs over seas where the wages were competitve. I don't believe people can expect to get paid $60+ dollars an hour in some cases, to do a job that an 18 year old could be trained to do just as well for half the price. This is the first of many Right to Work cases that are going to unfold as the government tries to make the US competitive again. I'm sure there will be much more violence as this plays out. I own a machine shop, I hired a guy from Michigan who had worked in the Auto Industry as a supervisor or so his resume said. After 10 minutes in my shop in front of a Haas VF20 (that's a vertical cnc mill for all you union fuckups that lie), dude was a deer in the headlights. He came up to me and said it would take him six months to learn how to run it. WTF I said, your resume says you can run and program these machines, no he said, I supervised the guys who did. Anonymous Coward User ID: 29632102 Thailand 12/12/2012 12:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On April 19, 1920, the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and the Metal Mine Workers Industrial Union called for a strike in the mines around Butte. They hoped the strike would help secure higher wages, an eight hour day, and end the use of the rustling card, a system that allowed employers to blacklist employees involved in union organizing, among other goals.[1] The strike came at a weak point for the union movement in Butte. World War I had undermined the power of the Butte Miners Union and the mines around the town were open shops.[2] Only six years earlier, in 1914, the Butte Miners Union Hall had been destroyed. Rising copper prices, fatal mining accidents, and recruitment by the IWW had further exacerbated tensions in the town. Three years before the strike, an IWW organizer named Frank Little was beaten and hanged from a railroad trestle by unknown assailants. Thus, the strike began in an atmosphere of tension.[3] The day the strike was called, picketers began blocking roads to mines in the area, including the Anaconda Road. These picketers turned non-striking miners away from the mines. By the second day of the strike, the picketers had succeeded in shutting down nearly all mining in Butte. The same day, a local newspaper called the Butte Daily Bulletin reported that the head of the Anaconda Copper Mining Company had suggested killings and hangings to help end the strike. On the 21st, the local sheriff deputized the Anaconda mine guards in an attempt to contain the strike.[3] That afternoon, a few hundred picketers gathered outside the Anaconda company's Neversweat Mine. The sheriff arrived and apparently attempted to mediate the dispute.[3] However, the Anaconda mine guards opened fire on the picketers, although the reason why the shooting began is unclear. Sixteen miners were hit, and one, Tom Manning, was killed. All were shot in the back as they tried to flee.[1] Federal troops arrived on the 22nd, ostensibly to prevent further violence.[2] A labor newspaper that wrote about the strike was suppressed.[4] Three weeks later, the strike collapsed completely and the miners returned to work.[1] No one was found guilty as a result of the massacre, despite an inquest into the death of Tom Manning. During the inquest, Anaconda employees testified that a shot had been fired at them from a boarding house across the street, something which residents of the boarding house disputed. Cross-examination of witnesses by union attorneys suggested that the Anaconda employees had received coaching to make their stories align. Anaconda attorneys attempted to undermine their accusers by pointing out that some of the miners had recently immigrated to the United States.[3] In the end, the jury declared that Manning had been killed by a bullet but that the bullet had been fired by unknown persons,[1] and his murder is still officially unsolved.[3] [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 29632102 Thailand 12/12/2012 01:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here’s the first, highly edited video which ends with Fox News contributor Steven Crowder getting punched by some union protesters: This video is actually a composite of a things that happened over the course of the day, many of them hours apart. The initial conversation happened early in the morning. At about 0:16, it cuts to Crowder saying, “You’ve already destroyed one tent, leave this one alone.” That happened hours after the interview with the union workers that starts the segment. The guy he’s talking to is standing quite a distance from the tent but Crowder insists that he’s somehow tearing down the tent. Selective editing at about 0:39 mark shows what appears to be union guy attacking Crowder for no apparent reason. However, if you look closely, you’ll see that the guy is getting up off the ground — that he was NOT the one that became aggressive first. At about 1:13, as the tent is coming down, Crowder comes over to the cameraman and waves him off as if to say, “that’s enough filming.” The reason for this becomes clear if you watch this longer, less edited version of the video: What they apparently don’t want you to see is union members using knives to cut the tent open to let people inside out. Rather, the message that is being sent by the conservative media and blogosphere is that the union members deliberately cut the tent to pieces in an act of malicious vandalism. As Matt Allen points out in his comments HERE, the union members actually ask, “Is everybody out?” and then proceed to make sure that they are. At 1:49 in the longer video, one union members notes that an AFP guy has a gun and brags that he’s “killed plenty of mother fuckers with a gun” (i.e., he’s killed people who were in possession of guns.) This is being played up as if a UNION MEMBER had a gun. Not true. It appears that Crowder was actually pulled back by a protester in that segment which is not evident in the longer video but IS evident in the shorter, edited video. My apology for the error and thanks to those in the comments who pointed it out to me. Crowder uses a technique of intentionally invading your personal space to make you uncomfortable and then peppers you with questions to make you angry. It is an intentional act to incite an angry response. The Capitol grounds were a tinderbox of angry folks and both AFP and Fox News tossed a lit match into it and then blamed the wood for catching fire. |
