It crashed like this before the 2008 financial crisis. It is the leading indicator on shipping/trade. It is also how shipping companies get paid; or better said, NOT paid, when rates are so low as this.

It's an indicator, not were all going to die prediction! What is true, is that it was the biggest plunge SINCE 2008, which really says a lot. A lot more than waving a bsflag, imho.

The 8% plunge has to do with actions the Fed will take today. America will lose it's AAA status and our currency will be shit. Hyperinflation will follow and trading partners will not want any of our dollars so not willing to give up any real goods for our worthless dollars.

It might start today. I went grocery shopping this morning at 7AM.

With EVERYTHING on the shelf practically made/produced by foreigners now, expect the shelves to begin to empty out. The just in time delivery of products will stop.

We cannot force other nations to trade goods with us or take our worthless dollars so no matter how much rigging they have done, sooner or later, we will be cut off from trade. What is in stores and warehouses now will be all there is for unlimited time to come.

I keep asking myself the same thing - how does it collapse when everything is rigged. Personally I think it will either be A)when the shitheads that rule this world decide to pull the plug, or B)we get a "black swan" event that tptb did not anticipate that causes a loss of faith in the system and causes an almost instant collapse. Those are the only answers I see, maybe someone else has some other ideas.

Maybe all the Christmas supplies were shipped in Sept-Nov. and now the typical spending slowdown has followed.

I can imagaine a 20% drop off after the previous months climb in shipping.
