Has anyone here figured out which machines pay out better? Or do you have any winning strategies? Give some good tips please. Quoting: skyblau Easy. Don't play. You are guaranteed to 'win' because you will NEVER end up ahead from where you start. Cheers. -Steve |
| AmericanInfidel User ID: 4991734 12/12/2012 09:41 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A few tips I have heard are pick a machine that is upfront in a heavy traffic area. The casinos want everyone to see when someone wins big so they move machines that haven't hit in awhile upfront. Also, keep an eye on who is sitting where for how long. Take a walk around and notice who is where. Come back an hour or so later and if they're still there, sit next to them and wait. Don't play your machine much. When they leave, take their spot. Destroy all that is evil, so what is good may flourish. Guns cause crime like flies cause garbage. KCCO |

Count the pulls till you hit a winning jackpot, ( meaning you at least doubled your last bet) then start over counting from 1 again.. Do this 5 times.. Then take the average pulls from the 5 rounds.. Then, max bet when you hit 75% of the average pulls number that you came up with.. So, if you average number is 16 pulls, bet low till you hit the 12th pull, then max bet the rest till you hit.. Repeat.. just something I read, as to give you better odds in the long run.. *shrugs |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1347486 12/12/2012 09:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Few things you should consider: 1) Be certain to look at the maximum payouts for each machine. Often times, one machine's jackpot will be 10,000 credits, while the one sitting next to it will be 5,000, and they will each cost the same to play. Also, play games where there is a bonus 'game' or animation. These will compound your win, often significantly. 2) Don't play a machine where someone has just cashed out with a large balance (the machine displays this). Find a machine that with zero prior credits. Means someone left the machine frustrated, and its more likely to hit soon. 3) For money management, avoid the $1-$5 machines. Play the quarter machines only, and put a limit on how much you'll play at each machine, such as $10. This means moving around frequently. Don't get drunk and static, sitting mindlessly in one spot. 4) Except for fun, avoid machines offering enormous progressive payouts. The money is tantalizing, but each spin is no different than buying a lottery ticket. 5) And, most importantly, trust your intuition. No, this doesn't make any statistical sense, but it is a real phenomenon. A study a couple of years back confirmed that some people actually do have a knack for selecting machines that will pay out. The conclusion was that it has something to do with our sense of where people are in the casino. Notice how the jackpot winners are most always sitting alone? In other words, avoid the herd mentality and find an area where the machines are vacant. If you follow these 'rules', you'll have a much better chance of leaving the casino floor with what you brought in, and with some luck, maybe much more. Personally, I've been to Vegas nine times, and have paid for three of those trips with slot jackpots. |

| Spine monkey User ID: 19054218 12/12/2012 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is what I do. I've won several several thousand dollar jackpots over the past ten years, but that is, of course, the exception squared. But here is what I do. I decide up front how much I am going to spend. Usually I like to make it anywhere from $500 to $1500. That is it. No trips to the ATM to squeeze out a few more bucks. I pick a machine in a higher, not exactly the HIGHEST, but in a high traffic area. I usually pick a machine a seat or two off the aisle. I sit there and I put all of the money into the machine. Then I play mindlessly for an hour or two. I just hit buttons and watch. Usually I don't even look at the machine. I hit buttons and watch people. When I hit a micro jackpot--free spin or $2 or $4 or whatever, I just note it in my head how much I am up. Usually I add that to the total of my credits. So if I am at $1400 and I hit a $6 jackpot, I just note "$1406." In the olden days I would put in a quarter or dollar token at a time and then cashout each jackpot and put it in a bucket. No more. The electronic tickets are hand over fist money makers for the casinos, but they make it harder to operate with in terms of keeping track of winnings. The slot machines operate on a random reinforcement basis. You WILL get rewarded. You just don't know when or how much. I'm sure there are stats and explanations and we could get some numbers to support what I am saying, but the basic thing is this: if people didn't win *something* on a regular basis, the casinos would be out of business. So the point is to maximize the *something* in any way you can. Let's say the number of rewards is X per 1000 spins. Let's arbitrarily say that number is 50. 5%. At 50 points over your $1000 of spins, you will win something. Most likely $2. Less likely $4, 5, or 6. Less likely than that the $10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 80 prizes. And even less likely than that, the $100, 200, 300, 400, 500 variety. And then you get the 1 in 10,000 multiple thousands payouts. (For some reason, payouts never seem to come in certain prime number amounts. Hmmmm. Never had a $7 or $9 that I could remember.) If you sit there for four hours or however long it takes (used to be longer in the one coin at a time stage) to spin through your money, you will get your X number of payouts. The key, for me, is to "put away" the winnings as I play, and to not dip into that kitty once established. You put in $1000, you might come out with $400 or $640 or $300 or $900 or whatever, but you won't come out with $0, which is when all the anger, regret, blah blah blah, come out. And don't touch that ATM card. I used to have a very strong slot machine jones, but after treating my anxiety with meds, I find that I can go into a casino and execute this plan as though I were a soldier. Other hints: never go back to a machine that you've left. If someone else is playing, you're going to hang around in some kind of gawker fashion, hoping that the person doesn't hit. Etc. Just walk away. My point is, if you are going to do something irrational for entertainment--gamble--don't DO it irrationally. Have a plan, work the plan. Oh, yeah: if you sit down at a machine, put in $1000, and hit $300 within 20 spins or so? You're done! Walk away. |

He says that the best machines are those on the way to the bathroom. They want everyone possible to see that people do actually win - so the best paying machines are in the most visible areas. This is a well known fact in Vegas. FWIW. |
| skyblau (OP) User ID: 29793733 12/15/2012 08:03 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tried a couple of strategies yesterday that had been mentioned in the thread as well as a couple of my own, and it works! I never ever win anything either. Here is what I tried. I chose the machines near the front door. I used the wheel of fortune slot game. I noticed before I would just bet the minimum of 20 and never hardly win anything. So this is what I did instead. I put a larger amount in the machine of 20.00, and bet higher amounts, staggering the bets like this: bet 20-3 times bet 60-3 times bet 100-3 times bet 300-3 times I just kept staggering the bet. I got a wheel of fortune spin only when I bet 300. I found you will only win anything if you bet higher. I walked away with almost a hundred, and spent only 20 dollars. I treated my family to dinner, and bought some groceries. I would never waste money with the penny machines again, I never ever win with those. |
