Oh Luisport, got some good news for the East Coat I see! lol I'm still doing Christmas shopping online, so have to wonder if this will impact it. Thanks for the heads up!

It may impact your delivery. I did some shopping 3 weeks ago and got a notice that due to storm Sandy, shipment could be delayed for a time.

What is the expected margin of error?

Is this worst case scenario or statistical probability?

Generator?

I have a 120v inverter and 220A alternator on my car. In a pinch I can power up with the car idling.

Best mobile generator ever. Also have a 100' welders extension line capable of 50A at 120v.

Not the most fuel efficient generator out there but it comes in handy.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
1051 AM EST WED DEC 12 2012

SUNDAY THROUGH MID WEEK...A VERY COMPLEX AND HIGHLY UNCERTAIN
FORECAST. IT DOES APPEAR QUITE ACTIVE WITH A COUPLE ROUNDS OF
PRECIPITATION OVER THIS TIME FRAME...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR A
STRONG COASTAL STORM THROWN INTO THE MIX. EXACT PRECIPITATION
TYPES/INTENSITY/DURATION AND TIMING REMAIN HIGHLY UNCERTAIN.

WHILE THERE ARE PLENTY OF UNKNOWNS AT THIS POINT...THERE ARE A FEW
THINGS WE ARE WATCHING. THE FIRST IS STRONG HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS
EASTERN CANADA THAT IS DEPICTED BY ALL GUIDANCE. THIS WILL SEND AT
LEAST SOME COLDER AIR SOUTHWARD INTO OUR REGION...BUT ITS
UNCERTAIN JUST HOW FAR SOUTH AND DEEP IT WILL PENETRATE. ONE
INTERESTING FEATURE TO NOTE ARE HOW THE COLDER 850 MB TEMPS ARE
SLOPING FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST ONTO THE COASTAL PLAIN SUNDAY.
THEREFORE...MAY EVEN SEE SOME SNOW AT THE ONSET ON SUN ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE COASTAL PLAIN.

THE OTHER BIG UNCERTAINTY IS THAT THE MODELS ARE STRUGGLING WITH
WHICH PIECE OF ENERGY TO AMPLIFY. IT APPEARS THERE WILL BE
SEVERAL DISTURBANCES...BUT WHICH ENDS UP BEING THE MAIN PLAYER IS
UNCERTAIN. LATEST INDICATIONS ARE THAT WE MAY SEE AN INITIAL ROUND
OF PRECIP ON SUN/SUN NIGHT FROM SOME OVER RUNNING...AND PERHAPS A
SIGNIFICANT COASTAL STORM IN THE MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY TIME
FRAME.

ALL IN ALL...A LOT OF THINGS TO WATCH HERE AND PLENTY OF UNCERTAINTY
AT THIS TIME RANGE. IT DOES LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN WILL BECOME
QUITE ACTIVE WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT COASTAL STORM.
WILL LIKELY SEE AT LEAST SOME SNOW AND/OR ICE AT LEAST ACROSS THE
INTERIOR...AND PERHAPS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS IF THINGS END UP COMING
TOGETHER AND IF IT REMAINS COLD ENOUGH. ALONG THE COASTAL
PLAIN...THE CURRENT MODELS INDICATE MUCH OF THE PRECIP WILL BE
RAIN BUT SOME SNOW WOULD BE POSSIBLE AT THE ONSET SOMETIME SUN/SUN
NIGHT. HOWEVER...THIS IS WAY INTO THE FUTURE AND THINGS CAN AND
OFTEN DO CHANGE SIGNIFICANTLY IN THIS TIME RANGE. THEREFORE...WE
ARE NOT RULING ANYTHING OUT AT THIS POINT AND MUST LEAVE THE DOOR
OPEN FOR MANY POSSIBILITIES.

FINALLY...AS NOTED BY THE PREVIOUS SHIFT WILL HAVE TO KEEP A CLOSE
EYE ON HIGH TIDES EARLY NEXT WEEK. IF WE DO END UP WITH A STRONG
COASTAL STORM...AT LEAST SOME MINOR COASTAL FLOODING/BEACH EROSION
COULD BE A CONCERN ALONG EAST FACING BEACHES.

I love your weather posts and get all the newest information from you guys and give it out to my friends so I sound like a genius who is on top of all weather related emergencies. Why? Because I LOVE WEATHER DOOM!!!

I am just north of the DC area (yeah, poor me). Can you make an educated (or uneducated) guess as to what will happen here?

A 220A alternator on your car you must be paying thru the nose for gas. Thats definitely high drag. You would also be ideling at 1000 rpm at least unless you have a car that has a diesel truck engine as a replacement.

We have a generator too, but I don't know what kind... I DO know my husband has it hooked up so that when he pulls it out, it can power certain parts of the house like the fridge/freezers so our food can go bad. I just hate that the hookup is right by the road where someone could try to steal it :(

Thanks for the heads up Luisport! I'm pretty well prepared, as I was for the last one. Heat may be an issue this time, though the power companies assure us that utilities are good to go. We'll see.
