Re: Have you come across a person who may be a true psychopath....
What would you do if you did?

This person is would not be an emotional manipulator . His manipulations use all tools, and are hidden.

He may or may not be dangerous at this time. He would be a true psychopath, not made, somehow formed.

He still has a high prestige career, and living the high life, leaving broken lives behind him.

If you were aware and he wasn't yet, could you use his tricks against him?

Not really because 'normal people's brains don't function like theirs do..

Darling, when you're at the level of thinking I'm at, you'll understand.

Till then, stay quiet.
 Quoting: Aunty Flo

yeah, i see your comments and posts, you're a smart one and i think you can handle this.

i would NOT recommend playing the game unless you are HIGHLY intelligent (most psychopaths are high IQ) and while you may not think the way they do and that thinking comes naturally to them, they suspect you of it anyways and there is a subtle and effective way of handling them.

Re: Have you come across a person who may be a true psychopath....
Yes I have and it was a she not a he.

They are much more common than you think. It is a real problem. They are predators and the rest of us are their prey. They have no empathy. None. If you truly understand the importance of empathy you would shudder to think of what a total lack of it would mean. It means they have no capacity to consider or relate how someone else would feel, and they don't care. They can run a knife through you the same way you'd poke a sharpened pencil through a piece of notebook paper out of boredom.

They are not necessarily smart yet possess an incredible ability to manipulate people in complex ways, yet it seems more instinctual just as a tiger knows how to prowl. They are usually very attracted and well liked. Over time if they are "successful" at life they learn how to emulate emotions and "normal" human behavior. Sometimes they even reach high positions of power. After all they are perfectly suited for the corporate environment which itself is psychopathic in nature.

I was married to one. She ended up in jail, and I and a few others barely escaped with our lives.

Re: Have you come across a person who may be a true psychopath....
Yep. I knew two of them. One was 5 years old and the other was 9 or 10 years old. Manipulative little beggars with absolutely no remorse when caught out. Compulsive liars and not above threats of harm to others to keep their secrets. Charming as hell if they thought it would get them what they wanted. Both had their parents wrapped around their fingers. In the case of the 5 year old, it became eveident as you talked to the parents that they were terrified of the kid, but never able to admit it dirctly. Still, they did everything he wanted them to do for him, including defending him to the death when he trashed a classroom full of computers because he did not get his way with the teacher. Naturally, it was the teachers fault that he got angry enough to trash the room and force evacuation of the other kids, not something wrong with his over the top reaction. He was 5 years old, for goodness' sakes!

These kids would be 18/19 and the younger one would be around 12 years old by now. I often wonder what they are up to, what trail of destruction lies in their wakes...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1718124

Wow. Id say the parents have lost custody at this point, and the state is having to take care of them.

Everybody has. There are a lot more of them than you think. Most disguise it quite well.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1310760

No, when you see a psychopath you realise how 'special' they really are. Damaged little boys and girls going around acting like psychopaths, are not true psychopaths.
 Quoting: Aunty Flo

Glibness and Superficial Charm, Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible.

Grandiose Sense of Self, they feel entitled to certain things as "their right." Pathological Lying and they have no problem lying coolly and easily. Very convincing and they can even pass lie detectors.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt an a deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core.

Shallow Emotions show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

Incapacity for Love, but needs stimulation and
living on the edge, verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

Those are terribly qualities to have to deal within a person. Get out fast before you become a victim. If you are already trapped watch your back. Instead of friends, they have victims an accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
 Quoting: Merci

Re: Have you come across a person who may be a true psychopath....
Something that might help besides all the dictionary definitions and what not.. Psychopaths are all over the place and there may very well be one in your social group.

They are usually very attractive, or somehow appear attractive. The one I was with seemed enchanting and beautiful to most everyone but I did start noticing that the pictures that would be taken during various moments, she would not appear as the same person at all int he still photos as the person I and everyone had "seen" in live action person. Very strange. Anyway, they are usually a popular member of the social group. They have spent a lot of time and energy on their appearance, they our extroverted and like attention and they get it. You will notice they get a lot of attention from the opposite sex effortlessly . There is an unusual charm, everyone around thinks they are great.

You may occasionally see flashes of intense anger or something in the eyes that chills you to the bone but you will quickly let it pass becuase hey t his is a popular, attractive member of your sorcial circle.

If a psychopath has their eye on you, before you even see them coming, they will like a chameleon turn into everything you ever wanted. They probably will feel wrong to you but they will persist. THey w ill be your best friend and then your lover and they will portray every quality you were wishing for in a person like a dream come true. Once they have you, things start to change real fast. The more personal time you spend with them the more you will see what is hidden.
You will become the outlet for their rage, torture and violence. Nobody will ever believe you either, because they are popular and flawless and perfect and sweet and generous and wonderful to a large group of people and they will never, ever believe that this sweet person is a monster.

They can switch their entire personalities around at ease, any moment for whatever is necessary. A psychopath can be ripping into your soul, beating you or stabbing you with a knife and telling you how they are going to eat your organs and your family's organs and murder everyone you know and the cops show up and as soon as they do they will throw the knife near you, run outside crying and sobbing like a little girl who just got told her daddy died, and saying please i love that person so much and they are mad at me and wnat to hurt me, please please all i want was to talk to them and they tried to hurt me. cops come in arrest the victim who is at this point losing their mind.

Nobody will ever suspect the psychopath. Their relationships will crumble around and their ex-partners will cry out but nobody will ever believe them because the psychpath always remains charming, attractive and popular and the center of the party.

Psychopaths are predators always looking for victims. They may just want to suck your life energy by tormenting and harassing you. They might want to stab you to death and eat you. It comes down to how much they think they can get away with. They will limit themselves only by fear of losing freedom so if they don't think they can get away with it they won't. But they also have little self control when their rage level goes up. They have no sense of personal boundary and no sense of appropriateness or decency.

When you look into their eyes when they are in full-tilt mode your bones will chill and your heart will almost stop becuase it's pure evil, pure evil more than you could ever imagine and you know that whatever that thing is that's looking at you is not human like you are.

More victims don't get away because of this.. When you realize you are being attacked by something that is so powerful, and inhuman it causes a petrifying/paralyzing effect on you.

Why of course you can.
We all know the psychiatric perversion, sorry profession, invents Syndromes for their own reasons.
My favourite is ODD for Oppostional Defiant (should be Defiance) Disorder.
I wonder how many psychiatrists are psychopaths?
Btw what have you got against people who play musical instruments?

It seems many people have different descriptions.

Re: Have you come across a person who may be a true psychopath....
Around 1946-48 there were born some interesting psychopaths.
Reason is that Saturn, Mars, Pluto were in Leo.

The babies born then had some seriously deep/dark imprinting by those celestial energies.

I took classes in Criminal Profiling and learned enough to quit because it shook me to the core. I couldn't handle the ugliness of what humans were capable of. Disturbing but fasinating.
Anyway. The woman who taught those classes was a retired profiler who insisted that Saturn, Mars & Pluto were an influence that should be included to assess the criminal.

I have come across five real, genuine psychopaths however it's important not to accuse any old asshole of being a psychopath as 97% of the population are NOT psychopaths. Real psycho's are a breed apart, literally, and display very specific behaviours that are off the scale in terms of pure evil, pathological lying and expert chameleon like deception that conceals the berserk monsters they really are. Genuine psycho's are all capable of extreme violence under the right circumstances i.e extreme stress, however most choose to just destroy their victims psychologically.

Not true. Psycopaths can't be seen as people at all. They have a twisted head, and a twisted heart.

Ego makes things a little more complicated,
 Quoting: Aunty Flo

I think most of them are 'sane' in a way that people with emotions can't understand.

I heard a professional say that the only way he could explain it, is it as though they are born with no 'soul' (for want of a better word}.

They have hooked them up to machines and showed them pictures that made the 'normal' control group squirm, look away, feel nauseous and show a change in body reactions, sweating, heart rate increase etc.

But they didn't bat an eyelid, showed no body responses - no affect at all, as if they were looking at a photo of say, a plate of french fries.

They seem to only have the survival instinct and anger plays a part in that. They also show little fear. they think that may account for their love of living on the edge, risk taking - it gives them an emotion, a thrill.

They would walk past a run over child in case their clothes got dirty. Everything they do is to improve their lot in life. They think that we are stupid and weak and deserve all we get. At one time there was a forum for them that a psychiatrists owned and admined. Now you have to register and, I think you have to be a psychopath. It was interesting reading. they talked about all us dumb normals. They had a name for us feelers or something, can't remeber now.
