Of course it is a fraud, 99% of conspiracy theories are frauds.
It is unbelievably easy to just throw some variables together and put your own twist on the matter. MUCH easier than actually proving something, because in the end, it can always be discredited by people.

There are over 6 billion people on this planet, each with their own worldview. Each with their own perspective on Life, and everything they come in contact with.
There is only One Truth. That truth is distorted, however largely or slightly, just by the very act of PERCEIVING it.
In other words, no one being, regardless of how supreme or intelligent, can ever have a monopoly on truth. To be alive, and to perceive reality, in and of itself, is to distort it. The very act of perception distorts that which is perceives.
Those smart enough to understand what I'm saying get it. Truth is therefore absolute, AND relative. We each have our own personal truths. Absolute truth exists, but it exists in a whole state, OUTSIDE of perception.
