Re: Where's all the work, Mr. President??? (need prayers)
This whole mess has been ongoing for nearly a hundred years now. The final chapter began in 1971 and has been playing out like watching a slow motion train wreck.

Everything is debt. People's savings have been wiped out and replaced with debt balances. People's retirement savings are playing the highly dangerous paper ponzi scheme known as the markets. Gov So So security is a joke.

Until we have a complete reorganization things are going to continue to deteriorate. Labor must be paid in debt free money. Risk must be rewarded when warranted or allowed to fail if insolvent. Business must be allowed to innovate and be free of stupid regs.

The bad debt must be purged in order to start a new.

Yep.

I assume this is why more and more people (who are aware) are stashing money in their mattresses. I know many people who now only use banks just to keep enough money in an account to pay their bills.

Of course, I have NO money, so what I have in my safe is not enough for piddly squat. Haha. Nothing there that the banks can steal.

Okay, the economy crashed in 2008. Why hasn't the economy improved any since then? I don't get this, they say there has been improvement, and even improvement in new home construction like 4%. WHERE???? Not in my county! (southern PA)

In more than 25 years of a successful construction business, for the first time we have absolutely NO work. Husband had to sell off machinery, so we can pay next month's mortgage. Of course, when you have your OWN small business, you do not get help from the gov. You cannot even get unemployment!

We would have had one remodel repair insurance job, but the home owners changed their mind and pocketed the money from the insurance company. You would think after our last big commercial project in 2011 which turned out gorgeous we would be getting loads of work. Not! Google the Lodges at Gettysburg and you can see the beautiful cabins and ballroom that we designed and built. But that has generated no future projects. Just 6 years ago we were so busy we were turning down work!!!

I don't know what is going to happen come February if we can't find work. We have mortgage to pay and food to put on the table. What do we do????

Nope, I know Obummer can't help me.

Any how, that may not matter here in a few weeks. There are some big changes coming around the corner.

These are the stories we are hearing daily out here in CA also. No $ for auto, businesses closing, kids living at home and being ripped-off by corporate employers, applying for hundreds of jobs with no answer, and every income level I know is selling items for way below value to get through the month.
I am so sorry for your plights, prayers sent.
It is trickling up now, even the corpse feels it, but the corpse can handle the losses by cutting employees pay and fudging hours, raising prices, bigger ads; small business can't weather it, it is so sad.
Regarding the cars, try to find a guy in your area who is retired from a good auto job and see if he will help. We have quite a few of them here, they do not advertise but get referrals from others.

It just blows me away how this administration we have just ignores these problems.

I know of a few people in my area that are selling off household goods in order to make it through the month. It is sickening. The thing is, what do you do when you run out of things to sell?

One of my neighbors down the road who lost a job and is on unemployment (lucky her) says she puts in 7 to 10 job apps per week. She has been doing this for more than a year.

They haven't ignored the problem. On the contrary.. they all have worked many years to insure these very types of situations would be prevalent.

It is my fervent belief one of their insidious goals is to strip us of any ability to hope. Starting with the very young.

Forbidding children to have a lemonade stand may seems innocent but what does it really say to all of us down to the depths of our spirits.

He's brought change all right.. He never actually said he meant change for the better.

Things are going along quite fabulous according to their agenda I believe.

The bright side is .. You seem to be getting some great advice!! That's great!
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
I Corinthians 2:14

God doesn't choose favorites.. They choose HIM

It is not the greatness of my faith that moves mountains but my faith in the greatness of God

Re: Where's all the work, Mr. President??? (need prayers)
I feel so bad for you, and you have my prayers.

Well, I don't know about your business at all, but don't get caught in fear and worry. Take a deep breathe...as long as you can breathe, you are okay. Be creative, analyze the situation and adapt to it. These are some thoughts that I get:

Take a good look at the world, what is happening to people, how people will be surviving, how you could help others (and make some money doing so) and in what ways are people coping with the failing economy -- try to perceive if any new markets are opening up or if there is a new way to market your business. Find OTHERS who you can work together with, even temporarily share resources with until everyone is back on their feet (home, childcare, transportation, work). Maybe you can find other businesses to pair up with, cooperate with or exchange work with to help you market or retune your own business to meet the new sitaution our economy is in?

People are into "small" houses lately, if that's any help, you can google that trend...likewise, maybe there is a niche of people would like to redo garages, cabins, guest homes or even floors of their house since they have relatives moving back in, for instance. I'm in the Portland Oregon area, and there is a Hotel chain called McMenamins who basically take old buildings like schools and mason halls that they remodel into pretty cool movie theater/restaurant/hotel type businesses...maybe there is someone or some company doing something like that near you or someone who would like to do that sort of business you can pair up with? Also, are there any government contracts out there (local, state) you could look into? Good luck.

For everyone else, if you can, please spend your money buying products and services that are made by your fellow Americans (and not corporate stuff).

Another thing, is you can ask for help from your church. I mean, priests and pastors, for instance, know lots of different people and might be able to help you network, somehow. Maybe they have inexpensive ad space, as well. So, reach out and ask for some help. Another inexpensive marketing idea is to put fliers up at your local natural foods markets with your phone number (they always seem to have posting boards)...esp. if there are any in a wealthier neighborhood.

Thanks for the advice.

Good news is we were able to make all three mortgage trial payments, barely. I have $12.00 left in the checking account. At least husband has some work coming up soon and is working one job right now (barely enough). Our house is safe from foreclosure for now.

Thanks for all the prayers.
