Quoting: my2centsworth and you will have to do your canning in the heat of the summer on a wood stove.. better have lots of chopped wood on hand, because then winter is just around the corner and you’ll need that wood to stay warm. We had a hand pump to get our water from, so no shortage of water, but a shower, well that will be a thing of the past. Carrying 5 gallon pails of water will be the norm, cuz you'll need it to clean and bath.... Laundry, is a chore and a half, the skin just about comes off your palms after scrubbing and then wringing the water out of your clothes by twisting them the best you can .. the line cannot take the weight of the clothes loaded with water. Heck with that - get to the tropics baby and eat raw fruits and veggies. And get yourself one of these which works fine set up on a 5 gallon bucket... [link to www.amazon.com] |

Currently, I'm lazy, the dishwasher, washer and drier do all the work for me and most of our food comes from the grocery store. I love the idea of getting to a warmer climate, eating fruits and veggies raw.. no worries about the cold... but somehow I think there are some rules and laws that need to be obeyed and followed to get there.. and if TSHTF millions will be lined up to get there, I'm sure. LOL I'd give you karma if I could AC.. but here's a smilie for you instead. |

I highly doubt that haha Quoting: 18andAware 29455238 What - - did you think that you youngsters invented conspiracies?? LOL!! I hope you know what kind of hard work lies ahead of you, should you ever need to live like that. Quoting: my2centsworth Better learn to grow, harvest and can your food.. no fridge, no freezer and no electric stove! and you will have to do your canning in the heat of the summer on a wood stove.. better have lots of chopped wood on hand, because then winter is just around the corner and you’ll need that wood to stay warm. Having said that, there is a very soul satisfying feeling when the day is done and you light the lanterns after supper.. because you know you did it all yourself... nothing was eaten, cleaned or done without your own physical efforts.. It's a feeling that is hard to describe, you have to live it to know it. We have no regrets, but not sure, having done that, that we want to do it again… youth and the energy that goes with it, is behind us now, and I get tired just thinking about how hard we worked to make it work. Be careful what you wish for … you may just get that wish. No need for hands to touch laundry, just use a hand crank washer and then a wringer to squeeze out water.. Theres even tons of antique wringers our Grandparents used, thought everyone back then had one. [link to www.laundry-alternative.com] |
