I would feel a whole lot better about forming an opinion and accepting the conclusion that the kid must have wanted to die to start a fight by pulling a fake gun on an Israeli soldier (and even attacking the soldier) if there had been witnesses from both sides.

They used to vandalize Jewish property; now they vandalize their OWN or Christian using Hebrew graffiti -- in hopes that the world will knee-jerk condemn Israel "settlers" all the same. Several have been caught in the act.

Same with kidnapping. Palis biggest dream is to kidnap an Israeli and then exchange for prisoners. So sending a "random", um, "kid" armed with a fake-gun against a female Border Guard makes perfect sense: if she surrenders to someone pointing a gun at her, then it's a great catch for Pali terrorists. If it goes bust and she kills him, then hey it's just a 17 year old "kid" who was on his way to buy birthday-cake... No trace to Palestinian Authority or Hamas.
