WHile the other side, the Jews, are a unique minority, a spectaculuar mix of Eastern Past and Western Future that should be cherished and protected by the global community -- much like a rare, endangered species bird would, for instance.

Your kind of common-place false (moral) equivalence is partly WHY the Palestinians in particular and Arabs in geneneral have been so RADICALIZED within the last generation. The more they get away with, the more emboldened their imams & sheiks have become. Even Sinai bedouin who used to be fairly secular, moderate only some 10 years ago, have become raging Salafists who smuggle for Al-Qaeda, Iran and Hamas, and commit terror acts with gusto.

So the dude was probably trying to start a 3rd Intifada.

2) It was a kidnapping atttempt gone awry. You see, the moronic, cowardly, "enlightened" Progressive West views Palestinians as harmless, cuddly underdogs. When of course that's about 180-degrees from REALITY. Pali terror groups, with help of both Western, Saudi and Iranian, tactical advisers & PR people... have learned to be smarter. They used to vandalize Jewish property; now they vandalize their OWN or Christian using Hebrew graffiti -- in hopes that the world will knee-jerk condemn Israel "settlers" all the same. Several have been caught in the act.

Same with kidnapping. Palis biggest dream is to kidnap an Israeli and then exchange for prisoners. So sending a "random", um, "kid" armed with a fake-gun against a female Border Guard makes perfect sense: if she surrenders to someone pointing a gun at her, then it's a great catch for Pali terrorists. If it goes bust and she kills him, then hey it's just a 17 year old "kid" who was on his way to buy birthday-cake... No trace to Palestinian Authority or Hamas.

Same teenagers were also using Israeli leftists NGO to win access to Israeli town. Under pretenses of looking after some Olive trees, they scouted the weak spots in the perimeter defense. Then 2 teenagers snuck in at night and MURDERED a family of 5 in their sleep with shotgun and machette, including 3 children, including a 3-month old baby in the crib. See: Fogel Family massacre.

Some otherf Pali "kids" were throwing boulders from overpass at Israeli cars on a highway -- hitting an Israeli driver and causing a crash, which killed him and his baby in the back-seat. Yay, Pali kids will be Pali kids!

That's just tip of the iceberg. These people don't want peace. They wouldn't KNOW what to do with peace -- cuz, you know, then all the Western donations would stop and they would have to set about the boring, unglamourous daily work of a actually running a modern state -- with no natural resources of their Saudi or Iraninan brethren to pay for it, by the way.
