I've never heard an Air raid siren aside from movies ever sounded for as long as I can remember, but I'm sure my parents can remember the drills. Today on a day of a regular Tornado Drill sounding, they also tested and simulated the Civil Defense Siren. The first time I heard it was this last summer, and to say the least took me by surprise. After talking to my friend about it - asked what it sounded like, so I had to demonstrate the difference between Tornado and the Air Raid. Has any one else heard Civil Defense being tested in their area? I'm curious as to if its just recently started or if its been routine in other areas?

I drove by there the other day as they were doing renovations and I noticed the old sirens had been taken down and laying in the yard. I might go by this weekend and see if they will give them to me or if I can buy them... that would be sweet firing that bitch up on a still, cold, Saturday morning... ;)
