It was shot down. The us already did this from earth back in 2008 and now the military has a 'weaponozed' space shuttle drone to work with. No way they let NK have a satellite orbiting earth above the us without inspection, when they can simply shoot it out of the sky and noone would have a clue what happened. As far as it just being a bad satellite I really doubt this. NK would not have lauched if they were not 100% sure they would succede, to many eyes are watching them to fail.
