Exactly. The discussion should include the US threats on the world stage that motivates countries to react against it. Now we see little NK, totally freaked by your words and threats diverting massive resources to counter it. And you sit there and laugh or regal yourself in a cloak of superior mindset. Be warned, this is not something you can ignore... Many nations and peoples are all ready secretly conspiring against such arrogance and threats, and eventually they will seriously threaten your comfortable little part of the world. Did you really think it would be otherwise?

Confirmed. I can't view it right now due to weather, but another amateur shot a 13 second exposure of the NK Satellite as a streak. It varies in brightness over the course of the exposure, indicating changing attitude in a short period of time. I am assuming that the amateur shot the actual satellite and not just a part of the rocket associated with the launch.

I wanted to go out and see the meteor shower, but having just gotten over the flu I don't think below 30 degree temps are a good thing for me right now. How I lived in ND for 10 years is beyond me, I do not do cold very well.

When I made my avatar I held onto the layered template in case I ever wanted to replace the comet with something else. I started seeing Dr. Acula's modified avatars around and that gave me the idea to make mine more Christmas themed. Incidentally, I think I just caught a picture of the NK Satellite on an Australian skycam...

The orbit may be stable independently of the attitude being unstable. I tried to extract an image of it from an all-sky camera in Australia last night, but it turned out to be too faint to detect. The only amateur image I've seen that claims to be of the satellite supports the notion that it is tumbling. That would NOT mean the orbit itself would be unstable or that it would come crashing right back down to earth, though it may mean they are not able to keep it reboosted against orbital drag and will simply come down naturally over time. That would not automatically make it a threat to other satellites though.

Its polar sun-synchronous orbit makes it impossible to view from my location for quite some time. I'm hoping to get some images of it from Siding Spring Observatory once the first telescopes come online.
