Looks like she is heading up towards the US! but its not dropping according to this? No, looks stable, yet also "jittery", but that just may be the interface. Pretty wild this site!! CharlieMurphy User ID: 21085501 United States 12/12/2012 05:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Who says it's going to fall? Tumble is a pretty vague word in this case. It has been what, 24 hours since launch? If the vehicle didn't achieve orbit it would have already re-entered, unless the NK's put it on an incredibly wonky orbit. If they tried to adjust the orbit and a thruster malfunctioned it will tumble out of control. There is a finite amount of reaction mass on board. But anything is possible.. I was just saying it's not necessarily falling back to Earth. When they say tumbling it could just mean it will be flipping end over end in an orbit around Earth for many years. RCS thrusters are meant for rotation/translation control. Like you mention, with the limited reaction mass on board, the RCS system is not good for making orbital altitude adjustments. I like your idea on the malfunction though, IMO that is most likely what happened here, sending the satellite into an uncontrollable spin. It can spin all it wants up there though, as long as it is in an orbit that doesn't dip into the Earth's atmosphere, it will be up there for a while. Fuck Yea! |

Pretty wild this site!! check again it is loosing altitude Look at the difference in Per/Apo: Perigee: 505.5 km Apogee: 588.5 km It is going to go through periods of gaining altitude and losing altitude, it is not a perfectly circulized orbit. Just before that there will be massive hails raining from the sky. NSTD |
