In school currently for medical coding, but I have always loved biology. I am also a nurse and have always felt out of place in my profession. I think biology has always been my favorite of all subjects, but not too many jobs available for that field in my area. |

If you were really determined to get a degree, these courses should give credits in order for one to enter into further study, especially when such esteemed lecturers give up their time to do this fantastic venture, because outside of the virtual world, these certificates don't really have any weight now do they? So the site just becomes another place to learn - whoch you can do through self study on the internet, so I am wondering, OP, whats the point of this again? |

The courses are organized with the goal of transmitting knowledge and information, and taught by experts in the subject. So when you want to know about something, this would be more efficient than random "self study on the internet" delving into the philosophical depths of wikipedia. FREE KNOWLEDGE FROM EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELD...how can you possibly be negative about that? Honestly, your attitude is mystifying. |

You could take the free course then test out of the "real" course. Saves time & money. Quoting: Southern OR Say, you've got a kid in school and you want him/her to become an engineering type. So you drill him or her a bit on university level calculus and physics. They teach those things a lot better there than the high school is likely to teach them, consider the much greater qualifications of the instructors. And I think top unis are actually starting to look for credits in these sorts of courses as part of an application for admission. Not required or expected, but they'll be impressed and it will help the application. A Stanford prof. said that one reason they put these things online is so that they can get a great incoming class. |

This is so incredibly awesome, a real big gift to mankind. And probably a death sentence to a lot of third rate universities. |
