I always knew of the MIT courses but this is much better I think. I am going to look into it seriously and see what they have and sign in for a couple of courses or three. Astronomy is tempting and there is so much more! This is the wonder of the world wide web it can be done from anywhere any time. |

Next Session: Jan 28th 2013 (5 weeks long) Workload: 3-4 hours/week In every freebie ther's a catch... If you were really determined to get a degree, these courses should give credits in order for one to enter into further study, especially when such esteemed lecturers give up their time to do this fantastic venture, because outside of the virtual world, these certificates don't really have any weight now do they? So the site just becomes another place to learn - whoch you can do through self study on the internet, so I am wondering, OP, whats the point of this again? You must be a real joy to be around, probably get invited to many social gatherings as well... They are offering your professional tutoring in today's premier subject for the price of your OWN time... I can't really say anything else without being vulgar and crude. 1 Day... U will find what U R l00kin' for. |

Some of the courses take 5-10 hours / week. Since most people vegetate infront of a television for a few times more than that, you should be able to find time. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25242396 United States 12/13/2012 08:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think it's great. I have enrolled in about 12 different courses, focusing on computer programming. The naysayers are so ignorant, I don't know where to begin. Gaining applicable knowledge and skill which you can demonstrate in a workplace is more important than gaining a degree. Receiving certificates from these courses can not only give you a huge head start in learning that will allow you to breeze through "real" college courses; but, it is very likely to count towards a written consent alternative to prerequisite requirements in community/technical colleges. For people who want to learn about programming, it's excellent. Personally, I study programming in college primarily because of my own personal interest in the subject and getting a degree is secondary to my desire to learn about the subject for personal use. |
