And you had free trade open up. opportunities to hire Chinese and Indian people Then on American soil the huge influx of Hispanics from Mexico and their babies and children who took the wages, down, down, down, down in all the construction and farming industries There you go. I doubt that Corporations were ever that evil as you are suggesting, its just a number of factors. Ive worked on some film sets that had Union workers and they make 4-500.00 a day and are so overstaffed they had the free time to hire in a masseuse so they can take turns getting massages. Think about the people out there who cant afford to take their kids to the movies because ticket are too expensive. |

[link to en.wikipedia.org] The Boston Molasses Disaster, also known as the Great Molasses Flood and the Great Boston Molasses Tragedy, occurred on January 15, 1919, in the North End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. A large molasses storage tank burst, and a wave of molasses rushed through the streets at an estimated 35 mph (56 km/h), killing 21 and injuring 150. The event has entered local folklore, and some residents claim that on hot summer days, the area still smells of molasses.[1] |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 4428411 12/13/2012 02:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Unions, as an idea, are great. They keep management honest, and get a decent wage for a hard day's work. In practice, however, they do not police their own ranks, which leads to corruption. If they held their members accountable, nobody would ever bash unions. If you were a member of a union, and were incredibly lazy, and were then kicked out of the union, nobody would ever bash unions. Unions, in principle, are necessary. Corporations have, in fact, corrupted unions to the point where they have self destructed which was their plan all along. Nobody to stand up for the worker, so they can charge less and profit more. To all of the corporate shills out there, I think you have something on your chin. |
