Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29645561 Pakistan 12/13/2012 12:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes it is. THE satellite launched by North Korea's long-range rocket is in operational orbit, South Korea's defence ministry says, confirming the apparent success of Pyongyang's stated space mission. The satellite sent into space by the North's Unha-3 rocket on Wednesday, is "orbiting normally", ministry spokesman Kim Min-Seok told reporters on Thursday. Link [link to www.heraldsun.com.au] |

Why, I don't know, but the facts are that the satellite reached orbit and is functioning as planned. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29645561 Pakistan 12/13/2012 12:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | two developments need to happen first (if they havent already): one, warhead is big enough or payload is small enough; two, re entry shielding development. They're no doubt working on that now that this has happened. They'd be insane to launch at the U.S though. Still, it'd mean that there are now three 'enemy powers' capable of striking the U.S mainland with nuclear missiles, and that thought is worrying enough! |

They'd be insane to not launch if they were invaded and attacked. Or at least they'd be insane to not threaten to launch if attacked. But yes, they'd be insane to launch unprovoked......... Unfortunately they are being provoked all the time...,, but still they are sane enough to wait and see a more humble attitude given their enemies now know they have nukes and an advanced (three stage) delivery system... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 28763511 Mexico 12/13/2012 12:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually the MSM is now saying they do have nukes -- 6 to 12 to be exact, plus they have their own in country uranium resources. So was the news of a "failed" nuke test just propaganda to snicker and laugh at NK achievements? Makes you wonder..... |

The concern is not the fact of strike capability as the United States, Russia, and Europe all have lived with nuclear annihilation for over half-a-century. The concern is that another nation collects a true rouge that does not care about massive retaliatory strikes. As long as governments are in charge, there is no issue as they are controlled. It is individuals and rouge groups that are of concern as the entire planet will pay in blood for their shortsightedness. |

Time to back up a bit and fully resreach just which nations can successfully launch satellites. Its more than you think, likely. Then cross out the ones that don't have nuclear weapons. Britian can hit the USA with ICBMs. France can hit the USA with ICBMs Russia can hit the USA with ICBMs China can hit the USA with ICBMs Oh, I forgot, even the USA can hit the USA with ICBMs. Potentials: India, launches it own satellites (successfully) also has nuclear weapons. North Korea, launches own satellites (successfully) also has nuclear weapons. Pakistan has both Nukes and Missiles and is working on developing its own Satellite launchers. Israel has nukes but so far (or double check) has not successfully launched its own satellites, nor any 'publically known' ICBMs. Iran, has launched satellites successfully)but no nukes. Japan, has launched satellites successfully, and has nuclear power plants. At any given time perhaps a year out from making nuclear weapons should it decide. Are there any others I have not listed? Perhaps. Do your own deep research. Don't forget all the submarine boomer nations, not included here in this list... but at least, the USA, Russia, China, Britain, France. Perhaps, Israel. Intercontinental Nuke Boomer Aircraft: Russia, Britain, France, of course the USA. I likely missed some. Can means having the ability to... not necessarily meaning will. Get the point? Its not all about ICBMs. Do your own deep research on this, this list is but a stubby start. |

Quoting: The Tauremini Well if it is tumbling, that would NOT mean that it was plummeting back to earth OR spiraling out of control necessarily. That would simply mean that its attitude is not stable (that's independent of its orbit). I have seen some amateur evidence to support that claim, but I don't know for sure if he was really tracking the satellite or a part of the rocket that launched it. As soon as the weather clears up around here I will get to the bottom of this myself. Last Edited by Astromut on 12/13/2012 05:23 AM |
